Group chats and gaming spaces can help children connect—but they can also normalize exclusion, cruelty, pressure, and harmful language. Our newest Be Smart newsletter explores the science behind these online dynamics and gives parents practical ways to help children recognize toxic behavior, respond with integrity, and ask for help. Read and share the issue with your community, then explore every Be Smart newsletter at smart-families.org/newsletter. Together, we can build healthier norms for childhood.

☀️ Summer connections, new friendships, and a little fun in the sun!
Today, MTC families gathered at Hueser Park for a special twist on our Open Gym tradition. Instead of meeting at school, we brought our community together outdoors for a chance for old friends to reconnect, new families to meet, and everyone to enjoy some summer fun before the new school year begins.
Thank you to all of our families who came out to spend time together. Moments like these are what make the MTC community so special, we can’t wait to welcome everyone back for another amazing year! 💙💛

💙 Once an MTC student, always part of the MTC family! 💙
We’re so proud to recognize our amazing alumni who have come full circle by serving as counselors at MTC Summer Camp!
Sisters Erin Johnston (MTC Class of 2025) and Grace Johnston (MTC Class of 2022), have been part of the MTC family since PreK 3. Today, they’re giving back by creating unforgettable summer memories for our campers.
🌟 Erin is a sophomore at Pope John Paul II High School, where she plays both tennis and flag football.
🌟 Grace recently graduated from Pope John Paul II High School, where she challenged herself with all Honors Math courses and competed in track. This fall, she’ll be attending West Virginia University to study Accounting.
Seeing our alumni return to mentor the next generation is one of the greatest blessings of being part of the Mother Teresa community. Thank you, Erin and Grace for sharing your time, energy, and love for MTC. Your younger classmates are lucky to have you! 💙💛

MTC Wednesdays: Celebrating Our Alumni & Camp Community! 💙
One of the most special things about the MTC community is watching our students grow, and then seeing them come back to inspire the next generation.
This summer, recent alumni Miles Collins, Darcy Vasil, and Chase Mandera (Class of 2026) are back at MTC Summer Camp as Junior Counselors, spending their days mentoring younger campers, sharing their kindness, and making memories with friends old and new.
From exciting games of dodgeball 🤸♂️ to creating friendship bracelets 🧵, our campers are learning, laughing, and building connections with role models who were once in their shoes.
We are so proud of the leaders they are becoming and grateful that they continue to be a part of the MTC family.
Once an MTC student, always part of the MTC community! 💙✨
