Deep in the woods, a new generation of bards found their voices.

Over the course of a magical week at Kimberton Waldorf School, our young bards stepped into character, made masks and props, played, improvised, wrote, wandered, tied knots, told stories, and learned to see the natural world with fresh eyes.

And then - they made praises of it.

We are so grateful for the imagination, courage, collaboration, laughter, and wild creativity these young artists brought to the woods. What a beautiful week of theatre, nature, and storytelling with the Heartwood Players.

A heartfelt thank you to Vincent Tavani, Paul Deichmann, and Maitreya for creating such a joyful, imaginative, and inspiring experience for our young bards.

Our 2-acre garden is absolutely thriving this summer, thanks to the dedication and hard work of Gardening Teacher Juliana Davis and the high school students who work alongside her.

The garden is such a meaningful part of our curriculum and our community - offering students hands-on opportunities to learn, nurture, observe, and grow. Even on the hottest summer days, Ms Davis is out there leading the crew - tending the soil and creating an incredible bounty for us all to enjoy super soon!
And what a bounty it is!

Sunflowers, lettuce, garlic, onions, basil and other herbs, tomatoes, cucumbers, and even a baby watermelon! Seedlings are sprouting for students to plan in just a few weeks. 

We’re so grateful for the care, perseverance, and joyful work that goes into making this garden flourish. Here’s to the people who help things grow - in the garden and beyond.

As another unforgettable KWS Summer Camp comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a season filled with laughter, friendship, creativity, and adventure. ☀️

Today, campers celebrated in the tie-dye shirts they made together, cooled off with water games, and ran through the colorful posters they created as a community—a joyful way to wrap up an incredible summer.

From crafts, plays, and talent shows to creek adventures, forest walks, capture the flag, kickball, and countless moments of imagination and play, this summer was one to remember.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing camp directors, dedicated counselors, wonderful campers, and supportive families. It was your enthusiasm, kindness, and joyful spirit that made this summer so special. We are so grateful for each and every one of you, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year!

See you at the Creek!

Where summer means skipping rocks, climbing trees, catching tadpoles, floating with the current, muddy feet, sun-warmed shoulders, and laughter echoing through the woods.

Childhood doesn’t need to be scheduled every minute. It needs space to wander, imagine, build, explore, and simply be. In the quiet moments between adventures, confidence grows, friendships deepen, and a lifelong love of the natural world takes root.

Here’s to creek days, paper airplanes, wild imaginations, and letting kids be kids.

This week at KWS Summer Adventure Camp has been the perfect reminder that adventure comes in all forms.

Earlier in the week, we soaked up every minute outdoors: exploring nature, playing, discovering, and making summer memories together. When the air quality kept us inside the past two days, the fun didn’t stop! Campers got creative with colorful murals, burned off energy with gym games, explored the library, and put their teamwork to the test on exciting treasure hunts.

Whether we’re outside in the sunshine or making magic indoors, our campers prove that curiosity, creativity, and friendship are what make every day an adventure. See you next week at the creek!

A beloved summer tradition...

Before a new school year begins, our early childhood teachers gather for a day of natural dyeing. Together, they mix vibrant plant dyes and patiently transform silks, capes, rainbow yarn, scarves, and other beautiful materials that will soon become part of the children’s play.

There’s something special about creating these treasures by hand - imagining the stories they’ll inspire, the forts they’ll become, the costumes they’ll complete, and the joy they’ll bring throughout the year.

We love this day of creativity, collaboration, and anticipation. Here’s to another year of wonder, beauty, and meaningful play - just around the corner!

We are having so much fun at KWS Summer Adventure Camp we forget to post on social media about it! From talent shows to sprinkler parties, from slip n’ slides to face paint and swimming in the creek - the good times are never ending and the joy fills up all our cups. Last week, Co-Director Faria Rota surprised all our staff with a special 4th of July BBQ lunch, and the older kids group put on a play for the rest of camp.

The merriment continues this week as we rejoice with cooler weather, crafts galore, music lessons and MORE! See you at the creek.
