Kimberly SMV wins the FVTC Event last weekend! BOTH of our cars (gas power and electric power) were event champions! This is the first time we have ever been an electric car event champion. The competition in gas and electric is very close these days which makes for some exciting race days! One more race at Road America next week......stay tuned for more updates. Had a great time taking a group of young ladies to the "Smart Girls Rock" STEM Event last week at Plexus. They had a chance to listen to women in STEM careers from all over the Fox Valley and see a sample of what kind of work they each do. Great event! Thank you Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce for organizing!

Last year 34 seniors graduated with an "Industry Certificate" they earned in the CAD 1 class which recognizes they have the fundamental skills to operate the CAD software called Autodesk Inventor. This outstanding achievement aligns with the dual credit that is also earned for Fox Valley Technical College by taking the CAD 1 class!

Outstanding season for the Supermileage Vehicle Class! The students won our FIRST EVER - SEASON CHAMPION AWARD!! Our gas powered car was an event champion 2X this year, which was also a FIRST EVER award for us. These results are from having a car that performs well in the braking contest, slalom contest, and the efficiency race. Our best run at Road America resulted in a 543.5mpg fuel efficiency. The students did such an amazing job getting everything done during "crunch time" and really paid attention to the small details to produce a couple of great cars. Congratulations to these KHS Tech Ed students who recently participated in the SkillsUSA Wisconsin Regional Competition. Students were selected to compete in contests based on their career interests and academic/skill performance in class. SkillsUSA helps students develop their technical skills in preparation for life after graduation by competing in skills-based events. Stay tuned for the State Competition results, which are in Madison on April 25th and 26th. Great job to these students for pursuing excellence in their work!

The Airplanes & Drones class along with the Supermileage Vehicle class were able to take a tour Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Appleton, WI. Students were given an overview of the company and the types of careers they have to offer as they now employ a little over a thousand people in Appleton alone. We were able to tour several hangers with amazing planes, some of the shops that ranged from landing gear maintenance to brand new cabinetry, and office space for all of the interior design work that goes into these incredible planes. All in all, just trying to show students career options after high school, and with all of the options out there, you should be able to find one that makes you happy!
