🎉❤️💙 H NATION HAS SO MUCH TO CELEBRATE! ❤️💙🎉

The official 2026 Mississippi Accountability Rankings are in, and we have some BIG news to share!

🏆 Hancock County School District is an A-Rated District for the FOURTH consecutive year!

Even more exciting, H Nation is ranked #18 out of 148 school districts in Mississippi, earning the second-highest accountability score in district history!

And the celebrations don't stop at the district level! Several of our schools have earned impressive statewide rankings:

⭐ #4 – East Hancock Elementary
⭐ #5 – West Hancock Elementary
⭐ #13 – Hancock High School
⭐ #20 – Hancock North Central Elementary

Having two elementary schools ranked among the TOP FIVE in Mississippi is certainly something worth celebrating!

These accomplishments are a reflection of the hard work happening in our classrooms every single day. We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful for the dedication of our staffulty, who continually go above and beyond for the children of Hancock County.

Our Lady Hawks Varsity Volleyball Team is headed to the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, and we want H Nation in the stands cheering them on!

🎟️ SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Students in ALL grade levels may attend the game without being counted absent from school! Students must submit a copy of their admission ticket (electronic screenshot or physical ticket) as proof of attendance.

📢 IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE NOTE: Parents will still receive an automated absence notification if their child is not at school on Thursday. However, once the student submits proof of game attendance, their attendance record will be corrected.

🌟 Celebrating an Outstanding H Nation Educator! 🌟

Congratulations to Mrs. Long on being selected as a member of the National Science Foundation’s National STEM Teacher Corps! This prestigious recognition celebrates exceptional STEM educators who are making a difference in their classrooms and are called to lead. Mrs. Long is one of only 16 educators selected across Mississippi!

During the recognition, Dr. Alice Steimle, Director of the Center for Math and Science Education at the University of Mississippi, shared what made Mrs. Long stand out:

“What stood out the most in Mrs. Long’s application was her belief that students can do difficult things when they are given high expectations and the support to keep trying.”

Dr. Steimle also highlighted Mrs. Long’s commitment to creating a classroom where mistakes are part of learning and students are encouraged to work through challenges rather than simply wait for an answer.

One of the most meaningful moments came when Anslee Glass, now a 10th-grade student at Hancock High School, shared how Mrs. Long impacted her love of learning when she was in her 7th-grade math class.

“Mrs. Long had a gift for making math fun. She found ways to make us want to participate. She made us want to pay attention. She made us want to learn. And somehow she convinced a room full of 7th graders that solving math problems could actually be fun.”

What a powerful reminder that the impact of a great teacher extends far beyond the classroom!

Mrs. Long, we are incredibly proud of this well-deserved recognition. Thank you for believing in your students, challenging them to think for themselves, and creating a classroom where they discover just how much they are capable of achieving! ❤️🖤

We’re excited to continue introducing the members of our 2026–2027 Staff Advisory Council! These staffulty members help provide valuable perspectives and feedback from across H Nation.

Meet Tracy Wagner from Hancock High School!

Tracy brings 16 years of high school teaching experience to the classroom, including the last decade teaching students in Mississippi. She currently teaches Foundations of Biology and Biology at Hancock High School.

Her educational background includes a degree in Earth Science and Biology with a minor in Education, as well as a master’s degree in Curriculum Design and Development.

Having lived and taught in six different states, Tracy has developed a special appreciation for the unique environments found throughout our country. She especially loves the Mississippi Gulf Coast and its natural beauty!

We’re excited to have Tracy representing Hancock High School on this year’s Staff Advisory Council! 🚀

Meet Cheryl Grather from Hancock Middle School!

Cheryl currently teaches 8th Grade Advanced ELA at Hancock Middle School and is in her third year with Hancock County School District.

A lifelong learner herself, Cheryl is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction at LSU. She is also active in the community, serving as Vice President of the Junior Auxiliary of Hancock County and volunteering with other local organizations.

We’re excited to have Cheryl representing Hancock Middle School on this year’s Staff Advisory Council! 🚀
