If you are interested in getting your CT pistol permit, you need to go through a basic pistol course first. I will teach you what you need to know about safe handling and storage of fi****ms and provide you with a certificate of completion of the course so you may proceed with the permitting process. In a case we are following, the Third Circuit En Banc has struck down New Jersey’s assault weapon and magazine capacity bans. This positive result is an exciting opening act to the upcoming SAF Supreme Court cases, Grant and Viramontes.

There are good things happening across the country for our 2A rights. CCDL has finally gotten their case accepted by the Supreme Court. It has been said that our case is the best written “assault weapons” case they have seen. We remain hopeful that we get our rights back!

Choose your fi****ms instructor wisely.

I won’t mention any names, but there are instructors out there (some of them are big names in the state that run large classes) who only have their students fire between 6-10 rounds for their live fire portion of their class. This does not meet the NRA qualification standard, which is the bare minimum of what the state requires.

In order to pass the NRA class, students must fire 20 rounds into a circle target. That’s not including any warm up, or first shots for someone who has never even touched a fi***rm before. My students fire between 50-75 rounds on average. Allowing students to fire 6-10 rounds and pass them through the class is unacceptable and does not do anyone any favors.
