Last week, our World History class became archeologists and were immersed in cave art as they analyzed art to find the culture within it. After all, isn’t a picture worth a thousand words?

There’s something special about starting a new school year gathered around a table.

We began this year at KAA with our Ignite Agape Feast for high school students, an evening focused on fellowship, worship, community, and the kind of love Jesus calls us to share.

More than anything, we wanted our students to start this year remembering one simple truth: you are a light.

Jesus says, “You are the light of the world.” Matthew 5:14. That light isn’t meant to be hidden. It shows up in how we encourage someone who is struggling, include someone who feels left out, serve without being asked, forgive, lead with kindness, and choose to reflect Christ in everyday moments.

Our prayer for KAA high school students this year is that they won’t just have a great school year, but that they will light the way for those around them. That their classrooms, friendships, teams, families, and communities will experience a little more of God’s love because they’re there.

Here’s to a new school year of growing, serving, loving, and boldly living out our faith.

KAA, let’s light the way.
