Dr. Amy Mersiovsky attended the American Association of the Colleges of Nursing's Deans and Chairs Meeting in Washington DC. Dr. Mersiovsky and other Texas delegates visited Capitol Hill and met with various legislative staff members. Dr. Mersiovsky and Dr. Marcia Straughn, Dean of Abilene Christian College of Nursing, met with Representative August Pfluger about nursing education needs.

Students, faculty, and staff from the departments of Social Work and Nursing spoke with Army families regarding infant safe sleep practice at Darnall Army Medical Center on Fort Hood on March 11. The departments also made and donated diaper cakes to the event for distribution to the attendees. The supplies for the diaper cakes were donated by the university faculty and staff.

FDA bans JUUL E-cigarettes JUUL E-cigarettes cannot prove they are safe for public health. The FDA has now halted manufacturing of the product.

Hot car child death is encouraging advocates to bring awareness to this issue A family in Houston is mourning their son after leaving him inside a hot car. So far, the summer heat is staying strong increasing the chances of more children or pets getting left behind.
