There are a lot of moving pieces as we close out the first nine weeks, and we wanted to put the most important information in one place for you.

This week’s update includes:

• 🌧️ Multicultural Night postponed to Oct. 22 due to the threat of severe weather and potential flooding
• 📚 Tutoring changes for this week and next week, including our pilot of two tutoring sessions
• 📊 End-of-nine-weeks grade reminders and Benchmark Schedule information
• 🚗 A very important reminder about our 15-minute after-school pickup expectation
• 💙 FREE Boys & Girls Club availability until 6:30 p.m.
• ☔ Rainy-day dismissal reminders
• ➗ An 8th-grade math staffing update and special Saturday math support on Oct. 3
• 🎻 An Orchestra update
• 🗣️ The Comprehensive Needs Survey due Oct. 1

There is a lot happening, but the goal is simple: keep you informed, keep students supported, and continue improving our systems together.

Killeen ISD is closely monitoring weather conditions expected across our area throughout the rest of the week, including the potential for heavy rainfall and localized flooding.

At this time, schools will operate on their regular schedules, with no changes to the instructional day.

Depending on the timing and severity of the weather, road conditions may result in transportation delays. To prevent students from standing outside longer than needed, families of bus riders are encouraged to download and use the SMART Tag Parent App to receive notifications and estimated bus arrival times.

Campuses will also monitor conditions closely during dismissal. If conditions are unsafe for students who walk or bike home, they may be held temporarily on campus until it is safe to dismiss them.

We are also monitoring conditions for any impact on extracurricular activities and events. If changes are necessary, we will communicate directly with families.
