It is so disheartening to know that people who are dealing with loss are taken advantage of. We just finished a homicide scene in a home. Multiple gunshots. Another crime scene cleanup company (nationally ran) quoted $12,000 for the clean up. We just finished the entire job and didn’t charge the family a dime. We are using crime victim’s compensation to pay for our services. $2,250. Now the family left behind can focus on healing and grieving, not trying to figure out how to pay.
That’s why we do what we do.

They wrote “DNR” in huge letters across the wall.

I’ll never forget it.

In our years of crime scene cleanup, we’ve walked into scenes that stay with us long after the cleaning is finished. This was one of them.

Before attempting to end their life, this person wrote DNR across the wall.

But words on a wall aren’t a legal DNR.

They survived.

And that one moment of unbearable pain forever changed the trajectory of their life.

I think about that scene often because it carries a message worth sharing during Su***de Prevention Awareness Month:

Please stay.

The pain telling you there is no way out is speaking from this moment — not from your entire future.

There are people you haven’t met yet.
Memories you haven’t made.
Places you haven’t been.
Better days you haven’t lived yet.

Don’t make a permanent decision during a temporary storm.

And check on your people — especially the strong ones who always say they’re “fine.”

Stay. Your story isn’t finished. The world needs you.

What if God didn’t bring us through this pain just for us?

What if He looked at the road ahead and said…

“This is going to hurt. It’s going to bring you to your knees. There will be days you don’t know how you’re going to keep going. But one day, someone else is going to be standing exactly where you are standing—and you’re going to know how to reach for them.”

Maybe the thing that nearly broke us will become the very thing that helps someone else survive.

Cancer has taken us places we never wanted to go.

We know the fear of hearing words that change your entire life. We know the anxiety before scans. The long treatment days. The sickness. The exhaustion. The tears nobody sees. The prayers whispered in the middle of the night when you don’t even know what words to say.

But we also know love on a level we never understood before.

The kind of love that sits on the bathroom floor beside you when you’re sick.

The kind that sleeps in uncomfortable hospital chairs.

The kind that holds your hand when you’re terrified and says, “Whatever comes next, I’m right here.”

The kind that celebrates eating a meal, having a good day, or making it through a treatment without getting sick like you just won the lottery.

Cancer has taught us that sometimes the smallest victories are actually the biggest ones.

And somewhere along this journey, we realized something:

We can either let this pain stop with us—or we can use it.

If sharing the hardest parts of our journey helps one person feel less alone, we’ll share them.

If something we’ve learned makes this road a little easier for another family, we’ll teach it.

If someone is losing hope and our story gives them enough strength to fight one more day, we’ll tell it.

We never asked to join this cancer community. But now that we’re here, we refuse to walk past someone who is hurting in a place we recognize.

We’ll reach back.

We’ll answer the questions.

We’ll pray with you.

We’ll celebrate your victories.

We’ll sit with you in the hard moments.

And we’ll remind you that you are not walking this road alone.

Maybe God doesn’t waste our pain.

Maybe He turns wounds into wisdom, heartbreak into compassion, and battles into a way to serve someone who comes behind us.

The thing that nearly broke us may become the reason someone else doesn’t break.

So while we continue fighting our own battle, we’re going to keep loving. Keep believing. Keep sharing. Keep helping. And keep looking for the light—even on the days when we have to search a little harder to find it.

Because maybe this journey isn’t only about surviving what we’re going through.

Maybe it’s also about becoming the people we once desperately needed.

This is Josh. Thank you to everyone who has been checking on me and supporting us. I have good days and bad days, but I’m fighting hard. I do love hearing from my friends, it pushes me.
I don’t know how I would fight this battle without my amazing wife, Kyli.

She isn’t just my caregiver—she is my best friend, my strength, and the person who keeps me moving forward when I feel like I have nothing left. Somehow, even on the darkest days, she finds the light. She stays positive, pushes me when I need it, and reminds me every day why this fight is worth fighting.

While caring for me full-time, she continues to be a boss and keeps our business going. She carries more than most people will ever see, yet she still makes sure I never feel like I’m facing this alone. On top of that she never lets our Spotless families feel alone. She puts herself aside for them, even though she’s carrying such a heavy load.

She loves me through the pain, the fear, the sickness, and every unknown. She fights beside me just as hard as I fight—and the truth is, I wouldn’t fight this battle without her.

She is my caregiver, my best friend, my biggest supporter, and the love of my life. I may be the one with cancer, but we are fighting it together. I love you so effen much, Baby.

This morning we walked into the aftermath of a horrific domestic-violence homicide. It was one of those scenes where you can feel the heaviness. You can picture in your head what likely happened. A scene that your heart feels sadness and you just want to get out as quickly as possible.

Police had recently been called after the victim was badly hurt. She returned to the relationship—and now she is gone.

This is not written to judge her. Leaving an abusive relationship can be terrifying, complicated, and extremely dangerous. It is written in the hope that someone who needs to see this will recognize that the violence may not stop—and the next time could be the last.

If someone hurts you, threatens you, controls you, isolates you, or makes you afraid for your life, that is not love.

You do not deserve it.
You cannot love the violence out of someone.
You are not weak for needing help.
You are not alone—and there is a way out.

To the victim, we are so sorry. You did NOT deserve this. We pray you are in heaven, safe and not enduring anymore torture.

Please tell someone you trust and make a safety plan with trained help. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

It never fails that when I’m dressed in a sundress and flip flops, we get called to a scene. It’s so important for us to get there asap to assess the scene, so you go as you are. I step in, take quick photos, and go home to scrub in the shower. Anything for our families. We are on standby for 5 jobs. God is sure testing my strength. As always, prayers for the deceased and their loved ones. 🙏🏼

When the road gets bumpy, you don’t leave the car—you put your seatbelt on, hold on tighter and keep moving forward together.

A stage 4 cancer diagnosis made our road rougher than we ever imagined. There are frightening turns, exhausting climbs and days when we can’t see what lies ahead. But one thing has never changed: we are madly in love, and neither of us is facing this journey alone.

I may be his caregiver, but we are fighting this battle together. I will sit beside him through every treatment, hold his hand through every difficult moment and remind him of his strength when he feels tired. And somehow, even while carrying the weight of cancer, he continues to love, encourage and strengthen me too. Now more than he ever has.

Cancer may be part of our journey, but it will never define our love or steal the beautiful life we have built. We will celebrate every small victory, find joy wherever we can and keep believing in brighter days ahead.

The road is bumpy, our seatbelts are fastened, our hands are locked together—and we’re not getting out of this car.

We are staying.
We are loving.
We are fighting.
And we are moving forward—together. 💚
