❄️🚨Due to the freezing cold temperatures, and overnight precipitation, Killeen ISD has made the decision to cancel all classes and close district buildings on Thursday, February 24, 2022. ❄️🚨



Unfortunately, we do not have the luxury of the temperatures warming up in time for us to have safe driving conditions to open our buildings this morning. The safety of our students and staff will continue to be placed at the forefront of our decision-making.

A final decision regarding a make-up date will be communicated at a later time. Our goal remains to complete the regular 2021-2022 school year prior to the Memorial Day Weekend. KISD employee pay will not be impacted due to the weather-related closure.

At this time extracurricular activities scheduled for the afternoon will go on as planned. Central Texas College students will be required to check-in with their college professors online regarding coursework.

All campuses will open as planned on Friday, February 25, 2022.

START FOR THURSDAY: Due to the anticipation of potential freezing rain moving into our area overnight, Killeen ISD will delay the start of all schools and operations by 2 hours, Thursday, February 24, 2022. All extracurricular activities scheduled in the morning will be rescheduled. We wanted to communicate this delayed start as soon as possible to allow for your family to plan accordingly.

🔸 At this time, all campuses will open 2 hours later than normal only on Thursday. School buses will pick up students 2 hours later to correlate with the delayed start of school.

🔹 All staff will report to work 2 hours later than their regularly scheduled report time.

🔻 Please be aware that further announcements regarding extended closures could be announced Thursday morning as a result of the evolving weather situation. Updates will be communicated through our automated messaging system, the district website, social media platforms, and local news networks.
