Tuesday Update:

Congrats to all our sophomores for completing the PreACT, and thanks to all the parents who helped make the senior picnic lunch such a great event – what a perfect day for our Class of 2027 photo!

Two big scheduling updates to report today: TOMORROW (Wednesday), our women's tennis team will play host to Central Davidson at 4 in the second round of the NCHSAA 4A playoffs. And our football team now has a rescheduled makeup game at home against Norfolk Christian at 6:30. It'll make for a busy day on campus, as we also celebrate volleyball Senior Night against Currituck. Monday Update:

-- V Soccer home vs Currituck (Senior Night), 5

-- The women's tennis team earned a first-round bye in the NCHSAA 4A playoffs and will play host to a second-round match Wednesday, team and time TBA.

-- Reminder that tomorrow is a regular school day that starts at 8:30, with sophomores taking the Pre-ACT, seniors spending the morning with important graduation-related meetings, and freshmen and juniors completing assignments from teachers. Attendance will be taken in all locations.

-- Seniors and parents of seniors are encouraged to attend Ms. Kepley's Next Step Night. She will be available to help with all things college application-related: RDS, FSA IDs, the FAFSA and more. Our upcoming Next Step Night is Wednesday (Oct. 14) in the cafeteria from 5:30 to 7. Drop in any time!

-- Varsity soccer hosted Fike on Friday night for Homecoming, playing under the lights on the football field. The match ended in a hard-fought 1-1 draw.

Fike struck first, scoring about midway through the first half. Just before halftime, Kyler Breiholz answered with the equalizer off a deflection. The Nighthawks controlled possession throughout an intense, competitive match, but neither side could find a goal in the second half, and the game finished level.

Join us Monday at 5 as the Nighthawks welcome Currituck. At halftime, we’ll honor our seniors who have given their time, effort and heart to this program!

The Nighthawks also play at home Wednesday against Martin County, then will be back in the football stadium for a special Cobia Cup showdown against Manteo, so make plans to pack the stands again this Thursday!

Time for all the Hoco hoopla! The parade will leave the school around 2:10, with the pep rally taking place at the football stadium until 3:20. Gates tonight open at 5:30 for all the fun: Volleyball exhibition at 6, Senior Night for football, cheer and band at 6:40, soccer against Wilson Fike at 7, and an extended halftime featuring the marching band, cheer team, dance team, and Homecoming Court. We can't wait to see you here!

Wednesday was a special Dig Pink night for volleyball, honoring First Flight teacher Mrs. Howdershell. Both JV (2-1) & Varsity (3-0) won against NEAAT. Thank you to the Interfaith Community Outreach & all who helped support this night in the fight against breast cancer. 🩷🏐

Thursday Update:

– V Volleyball (only) home vs Hertford County, 4:30
– V Tennis at NCC Tournament at Currituck, 1
– JV Football at Northeastern, 6

Reminder that Friday at 12:40 is the last chance for students to buy tickets to the Homecoming Dance on Saturday!

– Varsity Soccer picked up a dominant 9-0 mercy-rule road win over the Hertford County Bears last night, bringing the match to an early close in the second half.

Sam Summerton started the scoring off a Cole Voight free kick, followed shortly by a Luis Chevez cross to Luis Alfaro to put the Nighthawks up 2-0. Alfaro and Voight then traded goals and assists in quick succession – Alfaro setting up Voight, then Voight returning the favor for Alfaro’s second of the night. Kyler Breiholz added the fifth goal before Gavin Arnett scored off a pass from Samuel Castillo. Voight then notched his second goal off an Arnett corner kick, and Zach Munro closed out an explosive first half with a goal to make it 8-0 at the break. Early in the second half, Munro struck again to claim his second goal and trigger the 9-0 victory.

Let’s pack the stands on Friday night when the Nighthawks host Wilson Fike at 7 under the lights of the football field for Homecoming! Gates open at 5:30 for the "Homecoming Carnival" that will include food trucks, inflatables, the fun football vs volleyball exhibition at 6, Senior Night festivities at 6:40, and special performances at halftime.
