We are relieved to hear that the fire in Van Zandt County has been fully contained.

Thank you to all of the firefighters, emergency personnel, and responding agencies who worked together to protect the surrounding community. We are also wishing the firefighters who were treated for heat exhaustion a quick and full recovery. 🚒

Things got a little destructive at the Academy! 🚗🛠️

Class #129 gained hands-on experience using extrication tools and techniques to safely access civilians trapped inside a vehicle. Every cut and movement must be carefully planned to protect both the patient and the rescue crew.

Students practiced property conservation and sprinkler system operations by deploying, folding, and repacking salvage covers, controlling activated sprinkler heads to limit water damage, and locating and connecting to the Fire Department Connection (FDC).

The FDC allows an engine to provide additional water and pressure to support a building’s sprinkler system during an emergency. Protecting lives comes first, but protecting property is an important part of the job too! 🚒💧
