The Smash Ultimate Summit is back at KC! Rangers Esports is hosting this gaming event, beginning at high noon this Saturday in Dodson Auditorium. Tickets are $5.00 at the door, and competition is by invitation only.

The KC Rangers Esports team is currently recruiting and looking to immediately add players to rosters for Rocket League, Overwatch 2, Smash Bros Ultimate and Valorant. Remote students are eligible and encouraged to apply. The Rangers are looking for players with the following ranks:

*Rocket League - Diamond to Grand Champ
*Overwatch 2 - Silver and up
*Valorant - Ascendant and up

There is no cost to students to participate, but there are academic and participation requirements. Interested players can contact Coach Taylor at [email protected] or 903-988-3745, or stop by the Esports Arena in the Devall Student Center.

THE FOLLOWING IS KILGORE COLLEGE'S STATEMENT ON THE RELAXING OF COVID-19 PROTOCOLS:

Kilgore College will make face coverings optional across all locations, effective Monday, May 17. For those attending on-campus summer classes (beginning June 7), to mask or not is a matter of choice and will be neither mandated nor discouraged as classes open at 100 percent capacity. Hand sanitizing stations will still be available in all buildings.

Students are strongly encouraged to wear masks when working in close proximity with others, such as in labs or group projects. Other changes beginning May 17 include:

• reopening water fountains (per filters being replaced),
• scheduling face-to-face meetings,
• renting facilities to outside organizations,
• hosting summer camps,
• allowing more than one person at a time on elevators,
• adjusting to 10 minutes between classes, and
• attending face-to-face classes physically.

The college will continue to evaluate this situation over the summer and adjust accordingly if the number of cases resurges.

It is open to everyone in the area and players are allowed to sign on as free agents if they don't have a team. Deadline is this week! Kilgore College is hosting its annual Ranger Preview Day this Saturday, October 12 on the Kilgore Campus. The event takes place from 8:00 a.m. to Noon, and features opportunities for students and parents to learn about KC and its programs.
