Just want you all to know I’ve been thinking about my FHLA and ESL kiddos and missing you guys. I know y’all are all grown up and building your adult lives. Know that I proud of you all and the obstacles many of you overcame in school.
You guys made a big impact in my life (and my family’s…my own girls remember you all fondly and the fun we had) during the ten years I worked with FHLA.
I love running into you all at Walmart or Brookshire’s or around town. Always good to hear about your lives now.
Big virtual hugs to you all!

Kilgore ISD schools will be closed on Thursday, August 27. KHS will not have classes on Thurs. August 27 due to possible inclement weather. Students should complete the reflection they were given in 8th period classes and bring it back on Friday. If students were early release today, they should check their school email for an email from Mrs. Cox. Remote learners were emailed a link to a Google Form to complete to record their Thursday attendance. Stay safe, Bulldogs!

Here are some pictures from the scrapbook of my (Mrs. Haufler) first year as sponsor. The club was started two years prior by Mrs. Catherine Davis and some visionary students.
I was so thankful for great officers to help me learn all about the club.

My time at KHS has come to an end. Leaving FHLA Club is certainly one of the most difficult aspects of saying goodbye. I feel so honored to have been the sponsor for this amazing club the last 10 YEARS. So many great memories. You all have meant so much to me and to my family. My daughters called themselves “the FHLA Minis.”
I am super proud of the way this club has grown over the years (to more than 100 students most years) & the way you have served and participated in many community activities each year.
My hope was always to show you all that you are a necessary part of our school and community. That you can make a difference. And to help you see how fulfilling it is to serve others. I will forever remember seeing the smiles on your faces as you helped little kids play games or created a Christmas Tinsel tree to raise money to fight cancer. Your hearts and desire to make a difference have made a huge difference in my life and in my family’s. Thank you for 10 wonderful years.
I am so proud of all of you, past and present members.
Please keep the club alive & thriving.
Wherever the future takes each of you, stay connected to your community and strive to make a positive difference. Volunteer for the causes that mean so much to you and that help others. And ask for nothing in return. The reward is in sacrificing for others and knowing in your heart you are doing a good thing.
I still live here, so I will see y’all around. Keep in touch.
—Mrs. Haufler

P.S. I’ll be posting pics the next couple weeks of some of my favorite memories from the past 10 years, so y’all check back with this page and tag your friends you see in the pics! Here are some to get us started down memory lane...
