One of my greatest joys as a teacher was to see my students achieve their career goals. Today my heart was full as I watched my former Kilgore College student Trevor Newlin make his acting debut in Alien: Romulus. Thank you, Trevor, for inviting me to the private screening. I’m incredibly proud of you. So many congratulations! I’m among your biggest fans and am eagerly looking forward to seeing you in future movies. ❤️❤️❤️

Classmate Earnest McFadin’s Celebration of Life Service

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Earnest Marshall McFadin, Sr., of Kilgore, Texas on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10:30 am at Fellowship Baptist Church of Kilgore, 389 Rice Rd, Kilgore, TX 75662. From 10:30 to 11 am, all attendees are invited to visit with the family, with the celebration beginning at 11 am.

Earnest was born to Herschell and Kate McFadin of Kilgore on January 23, 1942. Mr. McFadin left his earthly home for his heavenly home on August 7, 2024, surrounded by his family, according to his final request. He was preceded in death by his father Herschell, his mother Kate, his brothers Lloyd, Bruce, and Dennis McFadin, and his youngest daughter, Jennifer.

Earnest attended Kilgore public schools growing up and joined the Army at 17 years of age. He was highly skilled in many trades and often told stories of all the places his work took him, and all of the colorful characters who became his lifelong friends along the way. He retired from Sabine ISD after 19 years of service to the district.

Earnest married the love of his life, Rose Annette Ray on October 11, 1967. Together, they raised three children, their son Mark and their daughters, Lynda and Renee, and a great-nephew, Delbert Jr, and assisted in raising many others. Their home was always a safe haven for anyone that needed a place to sleep and a meal to eat. Earnest was a born-again christian and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Kilgore.

Dad, Granddad, Uncle Earnest, and Pops as he was known, is survived by his beautiful wife of 57 years, Rose, his son, Mark (Kim) McFadin of Jacksonville, Texas, his daughters, Lynda (Scott) Hampton of Kilgore, Renee (Wayne) Borden of Kilgore, and his great-nephew Delbert Jr. (Ashley) Vaught of Longview, grandchildren Samantha, Kylyn, Kayla, Ty, Scotlyn, Brai, AJ, Darrin, and Kanyon, and great-grandchildren, Carly, Blake, Rylee, Paytynn, and Sarah, his sisters, Louise (Glenn) Raby of Kilgore, Evelyn Cooper of Kilgore, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
