You’re going to think I made this up. But honestly, it’s so wild I literally couldn’t, even if I tried…🤯😂

Six lunar cycles before I met my husband under a full moon eclipse, I ended a relationship under another one.

It was the end of May 2021, and I had been repeating a relationship pattern that looked eerily similar to the one I had already lived through before, with my ex-husband.

Different man. Different circumstances. Same underlying pattern.

Except this time, I recognized it a lot faster. My intuition had become so strong at that point that I actually knew he had betrayed me before I had any physical evidence.

The night it happened, as I was falling asleep, a woman’s face suddenly appeared in my mind’s eye so vividly that it startled me awake.

I had never seen her before…
But the following night, I did.

That experience ultimately led me to end the relationship, and I remember having this incredibly strong feeling afterward that I had just broken a curse.

I was DONE.
I knew I would never settle for less than what I deserved again.

And honestly, I wasn’t particularly interested in another relationship at all unless it was with my King. The man I was going to marry and build a family with.

The next few months felt like a massive rebirth. And in July, a local DJ friend of mine randomly decided to throw a party called Rebirth.

And if you’ve been following along with my recent stories, you already know that “rebirth” has a rather interesting habit of showing up in my life…

So there I was, newly single, fire dancing my ass off at a party called Rebirth, feeling more alive and more like myself than I had in a long time.

At some point that night I jokingly told my friend that I felt like he had thrown the whole party just for me.

He had no idea what I had just been through or how significant the whole Rebirth theme felt to me at the time.

But without missing a beat, he said:

“I did.” 😂

Obviously, he had not secretly organized an entire party around my breakup lol. But it was one of those little moments where I felt like life was winking at me.

I even jokingly put one of my married guy friends in charge of finding me a husband. His wife was a Goddess, he clearly knew how to keep a Goddess happy, so naturally I decided he was qualified to locate a King for me too. 😂

Then in October, after an incredibly powerful spiritual experience with two friends, The Goddess Reborn poem flowed out of me like lava. 🌋

And on November 5th, I posted a little toast:

“On this Scorpio New Moon I am raising my glass to Death…

To the death of what no longer serves our highest good

So the Light of what does may expand and shine its brightest for the highest goal of all…”

Eleven days later, I met Russel. ❤️‍🔥👑❤️‍🔥

And the chain of events that led to us meeting is almost as wild as the night itself.

Shortly before that, one of the women I had shared that powerful experience with ended up staying with me for about a month while I helped her through a really difficult chapter in her life.

At the time, I had been experimenting with something I had already written about in what would eventually become my book, Rise and Shine:

Give when you feel called to give. Give from your heart, for the joy of giving, and don’t worry so much about how it’s going to come back to you.

The Divine is keeping score. We don’t have to.

So I helped my friend because I felt called to help her, without really thinking about what I was going to get out of it.

Turns out, what came out of it was something I never could have predicted…

During the month she stayed with me, we became incredibly close. And toward the end of her stay, one of her best friends came back to Kauai for her babymoon.

Her name was Roxy.

Roxy and I had actually known each other for years. We were both fire dancers and had always been friendly, but she had moved away from Kauai years earlier and we’d never really had a chance to become close.

But because of everything that had happened with our mutual friend, Roxy and I ended up spending a bunch of time together that week.

We went out on a Nā Pali mermaid adventure, did a sweat lodge ceremony, had a Goddess spa day that ended with a lovely potluck, and just had a really beautiful week of women hanging out together.

And while I was staying late one night to help clean up after the Goddess potluck, Roxy mentioned that her cousin was flying in around midnight.

If you read my Magic 8 Ball story, you might remember this part… 😂

He was single, apparently pretty cool, and when I asked Roxy the obviously important question of how tall he was, she said:

“Pretty tall. Like 6’5”-ish.”

Hmm…

I was excited to meet him. 😏

The next day, Roxy reached out to let me know that the massage therapist from our spa day was returning the following day.

Which just so happened to be the day before the full moon eclipse.

And that’s when I finally met Russel.

And this is another one of those little details that meant absolutely nothing to me at the time…

I was actually supposed to get my massage a couple days earlier during our Goddess spa day, but I gave my appointment to my friend’s daughter because she was leaving the island the next day and wouldn’t otherwise get one.

So the massage therapist came back a couple days later for me and Roxy’s mom… which meant I happened to be there the day after Russel arrived.

Funny how that works. 😉

I was hanging out in the living room talking with everyone when I saw him walking around outside through the windows after coming home from surfing.

I remember looking at him and thinking…

“Hmmm. He has nice arms.” 😂

He now tells me that when he walked in and saw me, his first thought was:

“Now THAT is a beautiful woman.”

So clearly, things were off to a promising start. 😉

We all hung out and talked for a while, and then it was time for my massage.

Now, this was a Lomi Lomi massage.

Which, for those of you unfamiliar with Lomi Lomi, basically means you’re naked, covered in massage oil, with a strategically placed sarong covering the important bits.

And the massage table was set up in the living room.

Meanwhile everyone else was making dinner in the kitchen and taking food outside to the barbecue, which required occasionally walking through said living room.

So yeah…
Russel basically saw me naked before we even knew each other. 😅

After the massage, I was still sitting on the table, covered in oil, wearing approximately enough fabric to keep this story Facebook-friendly, when Russel casually wandered over, inserted himself into the conversation I was having with the massage therapist and offered me a snack.

And the funny thing is, toward the end of my massage I had literally been lying there thinking about how hungry I was.

So my internal reaction was basically:
“Oh good, hot surfer brought snacks.” 😂

I immediately knew he was trouble.
But like… the good kind. 😅

That night, we all made plans to go to the beach the following evening to watch the full moon lunar eclipse.

The next day I went over to their house again to make pregnant Roxy fresh tangelo juice from the tree in my yard. While I was talking to him and his aunt about our plans, I mentioned that I wanted to head down early to watch the sunset and moonrise, gather firewood and get everything set up.

And before I even had to ask, he offered to come along and help me.

Perfect. 😇

So that evening, Russel and I headed down to the beach together.

I knew exactly where to find the good firewood, so naturally I loaded up the 6’5” surfer and made him use those nice arms to haul several loads down the hill to our spot. 💪🏼💪🏼

Then he tried to start the fire…but it was a little windy and he was having some trouble.

Now, Russel is literally a Marine, so I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he was actually playing coy. But I am a fire dancer named Soulfire, so I jumped at the opportunity to show off my fire building skills.

And I tell you what, I know how to build a fu***ng fire. 🔥

Apparently this impressed him. 😉

By then the moon had risen over the ocean, the sky was getting darker, and his cousin and aunt were still nowhere to be found.

So we settled in beside our fire, just the two of us.

Then we discovered there was supposed to be a full moon party farther down the beach, and eventually a bunch of people started showing up.

But someone had forgotten part of the DJ equipment, so instead of the big loud dance party they had planned, it turned into this much smaller, mellower gathering with some small speakers and live musicians jamming along to the music.

Which honestly worked out perfectly for us. There was music drifting down the beach, people started fire dancing near the other fire, and we basically ended up with our own little private VIP fire and a fire-dancing show… quite the ambience. ✨

Eventually Roxy and her mom showed up and we did a little ceremony together while the eclipse began.

At one point we were all lying on our blankets watching the sky, and Russel reached over and quietly took my hand.

Which was pretty dang cute. ☺️

Later, Roxy and her mom went home because it was getting late and pregnant Roxy was very tired. IYKYK 🤰🏻

But Russel and I stayed, and then things started getting wild…
About a month earlier, I had noticed this group of stars in the sky that looked like a giant heart. And that night, the eclipsed moon just so happened to be sitting right inside it.

So of course I pointed it out to Russel.

As I’m showing him this giant heart in the stars surrounding the eclipsed moon, nēnē geese go flying over us, squawking into the night. Again, IYKYK. 😉

And then…

A huge, bright shooting star goes flying straight through the heart toward the moon. 💫

I KID YOU NOT.

We both shouted “WOAH!” and laughed in amazement.
“That was crazy!” 🤯

I mean seriously, you can’t make this up.

And somewhere in the midst of all this magic, the hot surfer and I were obviously starting to like each other. 😏

A little later, Russel tried to kiss me while we were standing beside the fire, but I turned my head so he had to kiss my cheek instead. 😂

It wasn’t that I didn’t want to kiss him. I did.

But we were standing next to this smoky fire and it just didn’t feel like the right moment, and I didn’t want our first kiss to be contaminated by campfire smoke. 😂

Which is kind of ridiculous considering my name is Soulfire…

What can I say?
Women are complex creatures. 😅

Sometime after the moonlight had started returning, we decided to go for a walk down the beach. By then the neighboring party had mostly died down. The speakers were off and there were only a few people left sitting around the fire.

But there was this beautiful girl there singing the most mesmerizing, almost operatic love song.

We walked over to listen, and as we got closer and I could finally see her face in the moonlight, I realized I knew her…

It was my friend’s daughter…
And her name was Amora. ❤️‍🔥

Because apparently the giant heart, eclipsed moon, nēnē geese and shooting star weren’t subtle enough. 😂

We listened to her sing for a while, thanked her for sharing her beautiful gift of music, and then continued walking down the beach, eventually sitting together on some rocks beside the ocean.

And then Russel took me through this powerful breathwork experience, after which we sat there taking in the beauty of the ocean sparkling in the moonlight before heading back to our fire.

The moon was fully illuminated by then. And the nēnē flew over us AGAIN.

At this point it was probably after 1am, and I have this little tradition I like to do where I jump into the ocean under the full moon before heading home. 🌊

Neither of us had brought swimsuits though, so naturally, I invited the man I had known for approximately 24 hours to go skinny-dipping with me. 😂

I mean… he’d basically already seen me naked anyway and it was nighttime so what the heck?!

(I realize this sounds quite risqué, but it was honestly completely innocent. I wasn’t trying to seduce the man, I’m just kind of a hippie.) 😅

So we stripped down and ran into the ocean under the full moon. 🍑🍑🌝

And when I came back out, Russel was waiting for me with a big beach towel and wrapped me up in it.
❤️‍🔥

Of course, I had absolutely no idea what had just begun.

I didn’t know he would extend his trip just so we could have more time and spend almost every day of the next three weeks together.

I didn’t know the magic was somehow going to get even crazier from there.

And I certainly didn’t know that the hot surfer who brought me snacks while I sat naked on a massage table would become my husband and the father of my daughter. ❤️‍🔥👑❤️‍🔥

But looking back now, this is the part that really gets me…

Six lunar cycles earlier, under another full moon eclipse, I had walked away from a pattern I had been repeating for years.

The same pattern I talked about in my first eclipse post…

Different people.
Different relationships.
Different faces.

Leaving my first husband four years earlier after that solar eclipse was a massive turning point in my life, but I was still learning how to recognize and decode the patterns my experiences were reflecting back to me.

So when that pattern showed up again in a different form, I recognized it sooner. I listened to myself sooner. And I got out sooner.

Eventually something shifted deeply enough that I didn’t just leave another unhealthy relationship… I stopped being available for that kind of relationship altogether.

The pattern changed first, and THEN my life reflected that change.

And looking backward, I can see so many of the seemingly random threads that somehow brought Russel and me together.

Helping my friend.
Her staying with me.
Becoming closer with Roxy.
Giving away my massage.
Going back to the house on the exact day I did.

All these little choices that seemed completely unrelated at the time, because that’s the thing…
You can’t always read the whole story while you’re still inside it.

Sometimes we’re living in the middle of a sentence wondering why none of it makes sense…
And every once in a while, we get to look back and finally understand how perfectly it was being written all along.

Five and a half years ago, an eclipse marked the end of a story I was finally ready to stop repeating.

Six lunar cycles later, another one opened a chapter I never could have written for myself.

Tonight, another full moon rises into an eclipse.

And I’ll be watching it beside the King who found his way into my heart beneath one five years ago. ❤️‍🔥🌕👑❤️‍🔥

The first time I moved to Hawaii, I basically lived in an outhouse. 🚽🤣

Okay, technically it was supposed to be a tiny cabin… and when I say tiny, I mean TINY, like 8 x 10 feet.

But, when I arrived, it was a complete disaster and there was literally a toilet sitting in the middle of the floor over a random hole. No plumbing, no electricity… so I feel like “outhouse” is a pretty fair description. 😂

I was 24 years old and had been visiting Hawaii pretty much every year since I was 17.

I first came to Maui on a family vacation, then Kauai the following year, and somewhere along the way, I started thinking about how awesome it would be to live here.

So when an opportunity came up that seemed like it might actually make that possible, I went for it.

My grandparents had recently purchased 10 acres on Big Island, and my grandma had made some connections there that she thought could help me find work. The plan was that eventually I could live on their property once they got a couple shipping containers set up as living spaces.

There were quite a few holes in this plan… Both literally and figuratively, apparently. 😂

But 24-year-old me wasn’t terribly concerned about those details, so I found a work-trade on a farm nearby and moved to the Big Island.

Which is how I ended up in the outhouse…

I lasted less than a week. 😂

From there, I ended up sleeping on my camping mat on the floor of the room my grandma was renting in Hilo until a couple of my friends flew over with my THREE little dogs.

Then we rented a minivan and spent some time camping around the island together, including one particularly rainy night when we all slept inside one of the empty shipping containers on my grandparents’ property.

It was quite the adventure… 😅

Eventually I got myself settled, thank God!

A friend helped me get a decent job at a cute little coffee shop called Java on the Rock, right on the ocean in Kona. I found a little ohana unit near the beach, and I started riding my bike to work at 4am every day…

(I actually really loved that bike ride.)

So in the end, I made it work.

But looking back, I can’t help but laugh at just how perfectly my life was reflecting back to me exactly where I was at…

At 24, my self-worth and self-image were pretty much in the toilet.

Like… absolute trashcan status.

And apparently life decided to take that metaphor VERY literally. 😂

There I was, trying to create this exciting new life for myself in Hawaii, and the first place I landed had a literal toilet sitting over a hole in the middle of my floor.

And honestly, that cabin kind of set the stage for the entire year.

There were definitely some beautiful moments mixed in, but overall, the whole experience was kind of a sh*tshow. (Pun fully intended 😂)

I wasn’t connected to myself or my intuition in any intentional way yet, and I kept finding myself in unhealthy relationship dynamics and situations that reflected the way I felt about myself right back to me.

But I couldn’t see the pattern at the time, of course. I was just living it.

Eventually my on-again, off-again boyfriend moved over to be with me, things started getting unhealthy again, and after about a year I decided the Big Island wasn’t really where I wanted to be.

What I really wanted was to live on Kauai.

So I tried.

I actually found a job AND a place to live here, but at the last minute the housing fell through.

I learned pretty quick that finding a place to rent on Kauai on short notice with three little dogs is pretty much impossible, so I eventually gave up and moved back to Washington instead.

Fast forward a few years…

I had continued coming back to Kauai almost every year, and when I was 28, I even got married here.

I knew that someday I was going to live here. I figured it would probably happen in another five years or so.

Turns out, my intuition had a very different timeline in mind. 😂

About seven months after I got married, shortly after my 29th birthday, I suddenly had this very clear knowing that I needed to move to Kauai.

Like NOW.

And looking back, I can feel a distinct difference between those two experiences.

When I moved to Big Island, I really, really wanted to live in Hawaii.

This time was different…
Even though I still wanted to, it wasn’t motivated by a big desire or burst of excitement. The sensation itself was strong, but surprisingly quite neutral. Just a clear, undeniable pull.

Of course, I had plenty of feelings about it because it made basically no logical sense, and honestly seemed a little insane at the time.

I was still married to my first husband, we had just moved back to Portland, I had almost no money, no place to live on Kauai, and absolutely no plan for how I was going to pull it off.

But the knowing wouldn’t leave me alone, so I talked to my mom and told her what was going on.

And she said something I’ve never forgotten:

“Baby girl, if you feel that strongly called to move to Kauai, then you just need to give yourself permission to listen and let the Universe provide the How.”

So I did.

Two days later, I had this random thought that I should look on Craigslist for a place to live.

Again… this seemed a little ridiculous considering I only had a few hundred dollars and a credit card at the time. But I had just made a commitment to listen.

So I opened Craigslist.

And within minutes, I found a work-trade opportunity for a little eco-dome on a farm… in the exact area of Kauai I had always wanted to live.

The listing had been posted less than an hour earlier.

I contacted them, and five days later, I was on a plane…

With no idea what I was getting myself into. 😂

Truly, I had NO idea.

Some of what followed was incredibly beautiful, and some of it was incredibly hard. And almost none of it unfolded the way I thought it would.

These islands will put you through the ringer like that… 🥵

But looking back almost eleven years later, what strikes me most is how differently I moved through the world back then.

At 24, I was mostly reacting to whatever was happening around me. I wasn’t paying much attention to what was happening within me, and I definitely wasn’t stopping to ask myself what my experiences might be showing me.

Hell, life put a toilet in the middle of my FLOOR and I still didn’t get the memo. 😂

By 29, I was starting to listen differently, and sometimes what I heard was incredibly straightforward.

It’s time to move to Kauai.

Check Craigslist.

These days, after years of intentionally developing my intuition, I have a much clearer understanding of how it communicates with me…

I’ve learned how to investigate the information I receive, and even how to initiate the intuitive conversation when I’m seeking guidance, so I can actually get clear answers instead of constantly second-guessing what I’m receiving.

I think where a lot of us get tripped up is in understanding how to distinguish our intuition from our desires and emotions… and thinking that intuition should somehow come with an explanation or further instructions.

And sometimes, in our search for certainty, we reach for external tools or psychic guidance from other people to give us the answers… which can create a whole other set of problems.

It’s funny how we tend to over complicate things, when something as simple as a random thought that makes absolutely no sense at the time can end up changing the entire trajectory of your life… and getting you somewhere you thought was still years away.

And over the years, I’ve learned not to dismiss those little nudges just because they don’t seem to make sense, or because they don’t necessarily match up with my plans.

Instead, I get curious.

Sometimes I ask questions and see what else comes through. Other times I simply pay attention to what happens next.

Because that first little nudge might only be the beginning.

And the same goes for the experiences that keep showing up in our lives.

Sometimes there’s valuable information hiding in the places we’d least expect to find it.

Apparently, sometimes it’s even in a toilet. 😂

I had no idea how to understand any of this back then.

But learning how to investigate my intuition AND use it to help me recognize what my experiences are reflecting back to me has completely changed the way I navigate my life.

Because intuition rarely gives you the whole plan.

Sometimes it just gives you the next step.

And somehow, what you were planning to do in five years, ends up happening in five days.

And suddenly you’re sitting on a plane thinking…

Dear God, please don’t let there be another random toilet! 🙏🏼🤣❤️‍🔥

My husband absolutely hates this story. 😂

Which is unfortunate, because it’s a really good one.

In Spring of 2018, a few months after my 31st birthday, I was visiting family in California and Oregon when I found out that a friend of mine was having a big art show in Manhattan, and for some reason, I suddenly felt this incredibly strong urge to go.

Which was very weird because I had absolutely no desire to go to New York City.

I’m a country girl. I grew up on five acres out in the boonies, and while I’m sure New York is fabulous for people who love New York… it had never really called to me.

But this art show did.

I also had basically no extra money at the time and was pretty much living off a credit card.

So naturally, I booked a flight to New York. 😅

I found myself a little Airbnb in Brooklyn and figured out how to navigate the subway because I definitely did NOT have Uber money to be cruising around Manhattan all weekend.

I did, however, splurge on an Uber to the art show because apparently I have priorities. 😏

And I’m so glad I went, it was a stunning event.

When I got there, I discovered that a few of my other friends were there too, and had actually helped put the whole thing together.

There was beautiful art everywhere, tons of stylish people, and at one point this incredible ballerina performed inside this cocoon-like fabric and slowly emerged from it like a butterfly. 🦋

The whole evening felt quite surreal.

And there was one piece of artwork I absolutely could NOT stop looking at. There were so many details in this piece that felt almost eerily personal to me…

I obviously didn’t know the woman in the photograph, but the way she was portrayed, the symbolism surrounding her, even the animal beside her… it felt like someone had reached into my imagination and created a piece of art specifically for me, without knowing anything about me.

The woman in the photograph even looks like me. So much so that multiple people at the art show saw me standing next to it and asked if the woman in the photograph WAS me. ✨

Did you know you basically have a built-in Magic 8 Ball? 🔮

Seriously, most of us are FAR more intuitive than we realize.

The problem is that we’ve spent years being taught to doubt it, rationalize it away, override it, or wait until something happens that proves we knew all along.

I also think a lot of people have a pretty distorted idea of what intuition is supposed to look like.

Hollywood certainly hasn’t helped lol. We see psychics having dramatic visions, dead relatives appearing in mirrors 👻, or suddenly knowing someone’s entire life story because they touched their hand…

Meanwhile, actual intuition can be like:

Move that juice.

Me: I’ll do that in a minute.

My three-year-old, approximately 30
seconds later: 💥🥤

…juice everywhere! 😂

There was nothing dramatic about the message. No booming voice from God or vision of the impending juice catastrophe lol. Just a simple passing thought that was incredibly easy to overlook.

Here’s the thing about intuition: we’re basically receiving intuitive feedback all the time. We just don’t always recognize it for what it is, because intuitive information can arrive in many different ways.

Sometimes it feels like a physical sensation in your body, and other times it might come through as a thought, image, dream, word or phrase that just kind of pops into your mind. It can also be an inkling about someone or something, a sudden pull toward or away from something, or simply an inner knowing that you can’t logically explain.

Sometimes intuitive nudges are attached to something completely mundane, like saving yourself the trouble of cleaning up spilled juice.

And sometimes… well, you end up marrying the guy. 😅

The day before I met my husband, I was hanging out with his cousin here in Hawaii when she casually mentioned that her cousin was arriving that night.

She told me a little bit about him, and for some reason, my interest was immediately piqued.

“Is he single?” I shamelessly asked

She thought he was.

“How tall is he?”

“Pretty tall. Like 6’5”-ish.”

And then I said something I will never forget.

“Hmm… I’m excited to meet him.” 😂

I hadn’t seen a picture of him. I knew almost nothing about him. I just had this inexplicable feeling about this person I had never met…

Turns out, that feeling was onto something.

But I’ll save that story for another time… 😉

Here’s the tricky thing. In the moment, you don’t necessarily know how important an intuitive sensation is. A passing thought about moving your toddler’s juice and an inexplicable feeling about a man you’ve never met can both feel surprisingly ordinary when they arrive.

You often only understand the significance later…

And I think this is one reason so many people believe they aren’t intuitive or “psychically gifted.” If you’re expecting intuition to look like clairvoyant visions and supernatural experiences, it’s easy to miss all the subtle ways it may already be communicating with you.

You don’t need to see visions, hear messages, or have some obvious “clair” in order to be intuitive. You may already be experiencing some of those abilities in much subtler ways without realizing it.

Have you ever randomly thought about someone you haven’t spoken to in a while… and then they almost immediately text or call you?

Or dreamt about someone and woken up to a message or missed call from them?

Have you ever known something about a person or situation before you had enough information to logically know it?

Or had some random little thought tell you to do something, ignored or forgot about it, and five minutes later thought, Dammit. I KNEW that was gonna happen. 😅

Intuition isn’t a superpower reserved for a handful of “special” people. It’s one of the most natural, God-given gifts we all have access to.

And you can actually train it. The more you learn to work with it, the more useful it becomes in everyday life.

That’s where the real fun begins…
I’d even go as far as saying that intuition is the ultimate life hack. 😏

Which brings me back to that Magic 8 Ball… 🔮

Okay, so maybe you don’t have a literal Magic 8 Ball inside you.

But you DO have access to a pretty magical tool that goes everywhere you go…

And the coolest part is, the answers aren’t coming from some mystical object outside of you. You can actually learn to ask your intuition questions, recognize how it answers you, and get better at understanding what it’s been communicating to you all along.

But I’ll go deeper into that later... ✨

In the meantime, start paying attention to the little things.

That random thought. That weird feeling. The dream you can’t stop thinking about. The thing you just know even though you have no idea how.

You might be receiving a lot more information than you realize.

Okay, now I want to hear yours!
What are some of the weird, wonderful, wild intuitive moments you’ve experienced that you still remember? ❤️‍🔥
