I was just on a plane to Hawaii. Me & two 20-somethings. We flung ourselves into fast friendship💛 Talked about the state of the world, our families & how to sneak into the pool at the Four Seasons😅 The man asked - with deep sincerity - “Do you like having kids?” I wondered, does he go around asking this kind of thing? Doubt it. Being polite? Perhaps, but I sensed something else. He sniffed out that I have a perspective he hadn’t heard before. “I DO like having kids.” I knew the answer wasn’t complete. He’d heard that before😉 He was no dummy. He'd looked around – seen it in his own family. Modern-day parenting. He was thinking, “if this is what parenting is, thanks, but nope.” He had seen parents' lives fold into their kids' lives. This (legit) concern is as common as dirt RN. Them not wanting kids is a symptom of a problem. What’s the prob? ➡️Modern-day parenting⬅️ As we discussed it, my new friends kept nodding & giving each other the side-eye, thinking, “this lady gets why I don’t want kids.” Even @ 30k ft, these concepts were landing. Modern-day parenthood undermines children’s capabilities & throws adult life into the dumpster🥴 You've assumed the role of laundress, janitor, head cook & chauffeur. The chores they do have wouldn't happen w/out you reminding them. Your kids are the unqualified CEOs. This dynamic is a clear problem for the parents. & it kills marriages. Just as awful, it’s thwarting your kids' heroic growth. Among other probs, modern-day parenthood renders children economically useless. There’s an amazing alternative. You want wildly successful kids you don’t have to worry about. Kids who cook, clean & contribute @ home independent of you. Kids who invest & spend well. Kids who are well-received & polite. Kids who take initiative instead of saying, “Mom! (fill-in-the-blank-complaint).” Kids who have fun w/out entertainment. Entrepreneurial kids. These are kids you don't worry about b/c there isn’t anything to worry about. If this sounds amazing (& it is!), let’s talk. We’ll discuss what’s going on w/ your kids. You will hear what's standing in the way of you having entrepreneurial kids & what to do about it♥️ dm me to schedule.

Have you read, "How to Train Your Dragon" before? My son & I just started & we’re into it.

If you don't know anything about it, when you read the book, the dragons (& Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III) all speak Dragonese. The author uses a different font for a visual cue when anyone is speaking Dragonese.

When I see the Dragonese-font, I read it ominously since the dragons (at least so far), are slithering, unmoral creatures.

What kind of font are you using to tell the stories you have in your mind? The thoughts you have that aren't serving you - are you telling them (in your mind) with bold, serious font, size 60?

The thoughts you have that are serving you - are you telling them (in your mind) with light, 10 point font with some question marks after them?

What if you didn't need to delete any of those thoughts that aren't serving you, but are you willing to highlight them, and just change the font a little bit?

I was in the dressing room recently trying on a jumpsuit. It was not made for my body, let's just say😳 I noticed how the font I used to use to tell my dressing room story was large, angry-lettering, serious & with some exclamation marks. It left me feeling self-pity & defeated. This time, I had the same thought ("this isn't made for my body") but instead of using size 60 font, bold & serious, it was so playful & light. I LOL'd in the dressing room because of how it fit (ahem, how it did NOT fit).

Don't worry so much about deleting the thoughts in your brain. Just notice the font you're using & consider playing with the font & the emphasis in a way that is more empowering instead of defeating. You have my permission to use any font you want to tell your thoughts.

And then, tell me in the comments below - does How to Train Your Dragon continuing being an awesome series or does it peter-out? Are the movies any good? Tell me! (No spoilers though!)🐉

There will always be voices telling you who you are, where your worth comes from, and how you should be a little bit different 🤷🏼‍♀️

But what if you got really good at not believing those voices? You would be able to Hear Him more. God. Our father.

I don't have a crystal ball to take these voices away. You don't need that, though.

I do have a specific process I teach you that help you to hear these voices and not believe them.

THAT is real power. To not live in a fairytale world, and to still be in close touch with who you really are 🌍♥️🙏🏼

If this is what you want, I teach you HOW to apply this to you on a consult call. If you knew how, you'd be doing it🤍

Nothing is wrong with you that you haven't been doing it (or haven't been in touch with your real self daily). It's because the brain and our modern-day culture gets in our way and does the opposite. It's why every convenience that our ancestors didn't have, we have, and yet, we have never been more anxious and uncertain. It's not you. It's your brain and our culture. And that is its default until you learn how it can work FOR you, not against you.

DM me so I can show you your individual brain's version of bypassing its understanding of your worth. And a set process for you to overcome it. Not just for the next six months, but for the rest of your life.

Understanding your worth changes your life. DM me to schedule a free call. xoxo

In Moroni, 10, it tells us, "every good gift cometh of Christ."♥️

What if the things in your life - your child's attitude, your weary energy, the dynamics of your marriage, your bank account, and your to-do list, what if they did not need to look good to be good?

Even if you don't believe it, can you at least play with how it can be God conspiring for you, not against you?

Do that. And then, I recommend practicing that belief. It will be a Baby Belief at first. The louder, more practiced thoughts of, "why does this always happen?" and "this is so hard" will want to crowd it out. Can you make room for your Baby Belief in your mind of how this isn't happening to you or against you or at you, but FOR you?

We can all list off things we are grateful for. Things that on paper, we can clearly be grateful for - this is not an exercise in that. This is asking yourself how the things you wish weren't, are actually for you. And it's okay to not love it. And it's okay to be weary of it sometimes. But it's also okay to TRUST that you're in the middle of it, and the story you've written that has a not-so-great ending actually isn't the ending. Just your brain 🧠 The actual ending to this is amazing⭐️ What if this was a “good gift?”Make place for and nurture that Baby Belief that "everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end." -John Lennon✨

Hey there.

The first one is manipulative. Of course, it's coming from good intentions. When you fall into this category, all it means is that you are a human being.

But the second one is how our Savior lived His life. We have no record of Him as a parent, no. But just in terms of how He was in the world. He allowed everyone to have their thoughts about Him, and He didn't feel desperate to change their minds if they didn't want to.

He was and is a Safe Place, and He didn't and doesn't need anyone else to agree with that in order for Him to be that.

I strive to live more of my life in category 2, which is that my kids can think whatever they want to about me, and I'm emotionally safe, meaning I love myself and them, and am not judging or resisting what is.

One of the reasons you homeschool is for connection and to be that safe place for your kids.

But real connection doesn't come from what your kids think of you.

Real connection starts with what you think of you and what you think of them, not what they think of you.

Understanding the difference is important, and it's something I can help you with. It's parenting from a really clean, loving place. Not graspy and manipulative. And not permissive and detached. It's in the middle, and it starts with you loving you. You want that for your kids. And you want it for you. Let me show you how. Book a free call with me, so I can teach you how. Link in bio.

Reciprocity used to be required for our literal survival. Which meant women were socialized to give & give & give emotionally and physically in order to make sure they were fed and cared for, since the women rarely were the ones bringing home the actual bacon.

Women have been socialized to "do it all" and then do more.

Makes sense when we understand it from an anthropological perspective. So nothing is wrong with you if you tend to people-please. Means you were socialized to do so, and from a well-intended place (survival). Also, it's 2021 and we aren't in caves, so I just want to remind your brain you aren't going to fend for yourself if you don't people-please. Cuz that's how harmful it seems to your brain to not people-please. Make space for understanding that. Doesn't make it true.

In fact, if we can get out of our own way, I also believe we have an increased capacity to do a lot more than we recognize. We drastically underestimate ourselves.

But I join Joy D. Jones in begging you to not do it just because you can. Do not do-it-all. Do not strive to do-it-all.

If your reasons for doing something or not doing something are so that someone else will feel or not feel something, as your coach, I'm gonna get you to a much more empowering reason to do it or not do it. The answer is inside of you, not with me. I just help you find it. And then you can wear whatever hat you choose and be proud and effective in wearing it.

This is how resentment ends. This is how empowerment begins.

If you want this, let's talk. Free, 60 min call for us to come up with a plan for you to spend your time doing what you were designed to do, not what someone else wants you to do. Link to schedule in my bio.

The brilliant Bev Aron teaches, "the strongest determinant of how 2021 is going to go for you is the story you tell yourself about 2020."

Not just because 2020 was what it was. This is true always.

Before you look before you and see the possibility, get your shiny planner and goals written in gold gel pens, I want you to look back and write your story.

I know you don’t want to. Stay with me.

Write the story of 2020 with you as the hero. Even if you don't feel like you were.

Don't write it and talk about it like you were the victim, or that 2020 happened to you. Insist on finding how you were a hero, big or small. Internally or externally.

This exercise is more important than any new plans and dreams you have for the coming year.

If you know how you were the hero in 2020, you will be the hero of your own story in 2021 and beyond, no matter what happens outside of you.

We decide who we are in the circumstances. That is agency, and no matter what things are like outside of us, agency allows us to decide how we want to think and feel about all of it.

Let's start here. Comment below and tell me how were you the hero in 2020 ⬇️

It's a human tendency to have black & white/ all-or-nothing thinking. We tell ourselves we are either "on track" with our goals or not. We tell ourselves we are a good mom in the moment or a bad mom. We believe our brain when it offers that we use time well or we are a mess with time management.

This thinking makes no sense. None of this is true. Our brains make it up.

We are both. We are doing great & not doing well. We are a good mom except for when we aren't. We are on track a LOT more than we give our brains space to believe.

I love this quote because it helps us notice how we are on track, even when we aren't. What a beautiful sentiment.

What is the upside to believing we are a mess? ⏩Our brains like to think that if we beat ourselves up enough, we will whip into shape.

Except that is NEVER how it works 💯 Beating ourselves up either shuts us down, or very temporarily gets us to white-knuckling and powering through, which ALWAYS requires so much effort because we are using will-power, which is in limited supply. And then we BURNOUT and seek for comfort outside of ourselves, which doesn’t usually go well for our goals.

The truth is when we believe we are on track and moving in the right direction (which I promise there is evidence for!), that is when we make progress and start living more into that truth. Whether that is a sinner trying to be a saint, yelling at your kids becoming someone who doesn't, or someone who doesn't follow through with her goals to someone who does. Believing you are on track will create you being on track 💫

To this boy, work and play are the same💙

What if you could be as rejuvinated by work as you were for play?

When effort feels depleting, our brains put on the brakes. Or, we power-though & white-knuckle it, which turns to burnout. When effort feels fulfilling, we move toward the work.

What if, with work you do as a homeschool mom, in your family and in the world, you didn't have the mental chatter exhausting you?

Mental chatter like,
🧠”I have to do everything."
🧠”I don't have enough time."
🧠”I don't have enough help."

That's what is actually making you exhausted. That is the reason you just want to check-out. That's why you think you just need A DAY to get back on track with your life.

What if you could take care of yourself without it feeling like an escape, but actually filling you up long-term?👊🏼

For my clients, it changes everything. They start doing the things that create long-term success instead of listening to their in-the-moment-brain.

You know the thing you want to start doing in 2021? You know how to do it. But you haven't been, despite wanting to and knowing how. Managing your mind is the difference between wanting it and actually doing it. Then you become the person who knows how to follow-through and accomplish, so the skill you learn carries beyond just accomplishing that one thing🙌🏼

I want to show you how. It starts with a free consult with me, where I show you what's specifically in your way from spending time the way you want. I show you how to make more time for yourself, your kids (doing what you really want with them), and with your husband. Link to book in bio🤍
