Mrs. Meyer’s 4th grade science class put their engineering skills to the test today!
As part of our learning about the Engineering Design Process, students took on a fun hands on challenge: build the tallest tower possible using only marshmallows, spaghetti noodles, tape, and paper!
Students had just 5 minutes to sketch out their design and then 20 minutes to bring their ideas to life. They had to work within the given criteria and constraints, think creatively, communicate with their teammates, and make adjustments along the way.
There were plenty of creative ideas, a few engineering struggles, and lots of problem solving as students tested their designs and worked to make their towers taller and stronger.
It was a fun way to see the Engineering Design Process in action while learning that sometimes the best designs come from trying, failing, redesigning, and trying again!
