The camp is currently under the leadership of Jared and Katie Opp. Opp are the K-12 instrumental and vocal instructors in Gregory, SD. Carolina-Greensboro, Greensboro, NC), Gary Hanson (Rapid City Public Schools- Retired, Rapid City, SD), Dave Martinson (Director of Bands, South Dakota School of Mines, Rapid City, SD)and Casey Danielson (Elementary Music Educator, Iola, WI), Dr. Alan LaFave (President at Valley City State University). Well known guest conductors and nationally recognized faculty members provide opportunities for musical growth and performance of the highest caliber. Guest conductors including James Curnow, Kenneth Bloomquist, John Paynter, Alfred Reed, Eugene Corporan, Jerry Junkin, Dale Lonis, Alan LaFave, James McKinney, Wendy McCallum and others have led the concerts performed at the Mt. Rushmore National Memorial Amphitheater. Campers are provided opportunities to study both in groups and individually with professionals on their instrument and voice. The current junior high faculty include: Fred Hemke, Anna Hakeman, Dave Martinson, Gary Hanson, Casey Danielson, Jerome Letcher, Jeff Patzlaff, Jim Panerio, Michael Skyles and Anthony Rohr. The guest directors are Kelly Wieser (Choir), Deb Wantoch-Yess (Rushmore Singers), Jeff Patzlaff (Cadet Band), Dave Martinson (Jazz Band) and Dr. Randy Kohlenberg (Concert Band). Current high school faculty include: Fred Hemke, Dave Martinson, Dr. Audrey Miller, Casey Danielson, Dr. Randy Kohlenberg, Michael Skyles and Dr. Darci Bultema. The guest directors are Mrs. Deb Wantoch-Yess, (Choir and Rushmore Singers), Unknown at this time (Jazz Band), and Dr. Wendy McCallum (Concert Band). Opportunities for enrichment in music education include music theory, music history, jazz improvisation, vocal techniques and fitness dance.
