Very saddened to hear the news regarding Brasiian composer Sergio Mendes passing today. He was such an icon in the world of pop, jazz, Latin and more. His unique brand of music was loved all over the world. My parents played the Brasil 66 album when I was small and I was hooked forever!

I'm just learning of the passing of Gary Grant. He was truly one of the very best ever and contributed so much to the history of popular music. From TV series, to movies to the hundreds of albums and iconic horn section playing with Jerry Hey he was the epitome of consummate trumpet players. He will be sorely missed. R.I.P. Gary

Our dear friend Gary Guthman's book has just launched on Amazon and I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
Gary is a fantastic trumpet player, wonderful composer, band leader and now author. I had the honor of reading this before the launch and found I was running the gamete of emotions. Gary shares some very personal intimate moments and had my eyes misty and then the next chapter I was laughing out loud. And for us trumpet players, there were some descriptions that totally transported me back to my formative years as a young player.

I was honored today to be part of the first WA State Chapter of the International Trumpet Guild! It was a great day and a lot of hard work and love went into it from Shelly Devlin, Ansgar Duemchen, Zachariah MacIntyre, Rona Sass, Zachary Lyman, Kevin Slota and many others behind the scenes. There were wonderful performances by the Valhall Brass, Puget Sound Concert Band, Olympia Jazz Senators, Morris Northcutt & Shelly Devlin & the Pierce College Band. My contribution was a presentation on the Teaching Methodologies of James Stamp. He was a world renowned trumpet teacher and I was so lucky to have studied with him in my senior year of high school through a few of my university years. He was an amazing trumpet teacher and an even better human! Today I also got to visit with some good friends (and amazing musicians) who I don't see often enough including Scott Meredith, Wade Demmert, & Bruce Daugherty. Good Times and thanks to all!
