We welcome you to our faith community. You will find here expressions of the vibrancy of our faith in mission and ministry. Our mission is to Show People Jesus. Our vision is to have a joyous experience in worship and serving the Lord. Christopher’s By-the-Sea we follow the Episcopal/Anglican style of worship using the Book of Common Prayer. As in the Lutheran, Greek Orthodox, and Roman Catholic t
raditions of the Christian Church, we follow a "liturgical" format centered on hearing God’s written word, responding prayerfully and offering thanks to God. Worship typically culminates in Communion (Holy Eucharist), a celebration of God’s love for us and a special way of coming into the presence of God. The physical beauty of our church is intended to foster a spiritual mood and evoke the Divine. From the baptismal font, carved from Jerusalem stone and inspired by the one in Coventry Cathedral in England, to the bronze candle sticks on the altar and the unusual bronze stand for the pulpit, all evoking the Tree of Life known locally as banyan, to the stained glass windows depicting the sacraments, celebrating music and commemorating passages from scripture, every detail conveys the thoughtful and loving attention that created this worship space. Likewise, as soon as the service starts you will recognize the sense of joy, reverence and celebration that marks our worship. The liturgy is carefully crafted. The sermons are spiritual, bridging from the scripture for the day to offer reflections about life, love, relationships, work, family, and life’s struggles. Music is important to focus and enrich worship. Our music is a blend of traditional, spiritual, contemporary and contemplative, helping to lead us more deeply into the worship experience. Like the population of Key Biscayne and St. Christopher’s, our worship is diverse. So come. Taste. See that the Lord is good!
