Stark County Youth Assistance Program

A Pathway to a Brighter Future

The Stark County Youth Assistance Program is a collaborative effort between Career Link (Wyoming, Illinois) and Black Hawk College Community Education Center (CEC) in Kewanee, Illinois. This program is designed to help young people change direction, build confidence, and move toward meaningful careers.

Who Is Eligible?
• Youth ages 16–24
• Residents of Stark County
• Individuals who left school early and want to earn their GED

What the Program Offers
Participants receive educational support, career exploration, and hands-on experience, all in a supportive environment.

GED Support Includes:
• Free GED practice tests
• GED test funding
• Academic guidance and support
• Participation in an official GED graduation ceremony

Career & Skill Development:
• Career exploration and planning
• Resume building and interview training
• Work experience opportunities

Certification & Training Opportunities:
• CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
• Forklift / Fork Truck Operator Safety
• Food Protection Manager Certificate
• Additional career and certificate courses

Additional Support Services:
• Transportation assistance
• One-on-one guidance from dedicated staff
• Financial incentives for meeting program goals

What Happens After the GED?
After earning a GED, students receive assistance exploring career training opportunities fully funded by Career Link. Training is available through Black Hawk College and other area colleges or universities.

This program is ideal for young people at a crossroads who are ready to take the next step toward education, employment, and independence.
