The day care kids all tried a new fruit today, RAMBUTAN! They all enjoyed it. The general consensus is that it looks and feels like a skinned grape and tastes super sweet!

Valentine's Day is a week long celebration at Komnick Child Care! We kicked off festivities by making necklaces out of heart shaped pasta!

The day care kiddos decided today was a good day for a color review and practice with their writing skills!

The kiddos spent the day working on colors, sorting, fine motor skills, and problem solving! They all agreeded that their favorite activity was working with the foam shape puzzles!

Looking for something to do this afternoon? Mike and I brought our kids down for a photo with Santa, delicious cookies and hot cocoa, we met author Annie Crabtree and we were gifted a signed copy of What Happened to Santas Beard! (They have an adorable tooth fairy book you can choose from as well!) Thank you for the invite, Tabreania!

Festivities continue until 230pm!

The kiddos at Komnick Child Care challenge every person in your family to pick up 5 pieces of litter every time you visit a park or go on a walk this summer. There was a big difference at McKinley Park once we were done playing there today! We could have this town litter free in no time if we all worked together.

I had six special helpers go to the Kewanee Public Library public with me last week! Together we signed up the entire day care for the Summer Reading Program. We also picked up a few spectacular STEAM take home kits! If you have not visited the library recently then you definitely need to check it out!

(Though Day Care Provider Appreciation Day has already passed for 2022, you should save the date and celebrate your Provider next year. We have quite a few SPECTACULAR child care providers in the area and they deserve to be celebrated for their kindness, creaticity, silliness, dedication, and reliability! It is always the Friday before Mother's Day!)

The kiddos are so thankful for morning walks and time at the playground! I am thankful that the City of Kewanee, Illinois has a perfect park within walking distance.

Today the kids enjoyed a "color hunt" walk after school. Then we cooled off with popsicles and a great story!
