Atkinson Heritage Days is August 21 & 22, and Saturday morning is packed with excitement for the little ones - and best of all, it is ALL FREE TO PARTICIPATE!

Bring the family down to Veterans' Park on Saturday August 22nd for an awesome lineup of kids' activities:

🎨 Face Painting: 9:30 am – 1:00 pm
🐴 Sol's Legacy Miniature Horses: 10:00 am– 1:00 pm

Thanks to the generous support of the Kewanee Kiwanis, we will have FREE pony rides from TriCo Equestrian Center LLC, for children at National Night Out 2026!

The pony rides will be available from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Northeast Park during the event.

National Night Out is all about bringing families, neighbors, local organizations, and first responders together for a fun evening in the park — and this is one more reason to bring the kids out.

Thank you to Kiwanis for helping make this possible!

🎬 Celebrating Bud & Katie’s Legacy at the Wanee Theater

While the Wanee Theater recently celebrated 80 years, this year would have marked 50 years since Bud and Katie began their journey together at the theater.

June 26, 1976, marked the day Bud and Katie joined together at the Wanee Theater, beginning a partnership that would help shape generations of movie memories in our community.

To honor that milestone, we’re hosting two FREE movies on Monday, June 29.

⭐ The Outlaw Josey Wales – the movie that premiered the day Katie started at the theater in 1976.

🦈 Jaws – one of the most iconic films of that era.

We invite everyone to join us as we celebrate Bud and Katie, the Wanee Theater, and the countless memories shared here over the years.

🥄 Splash into Fun with The Spoon Man! 💦
Get ready for an action-packed, high-energy morning of music, comedy, and water fun! We are taking the library excitement outdoors, and you won’t want to miss a single second of this fantastic double-feature event.

Immediately After: Kewanee Park District Splash Pad Party!

🎵 Act 1: The Spoon Man
Kick things off with a hilarious, interactive, and totally unique musical comedy show. The Spoon Man offers a knee-slapping performance that will have the whole family laughing, clapping, and tapping their toes. It's clean, fast-paced fun for all ages!

🌊 Act 2: Splash Pad Party!
Once the show wraps up, the fun keeps rolling! Cool down with our awesome partners at the Kewanee Park District for an epic Splash Pad Party.

🎒 What to Pack: Don't forget your towels, swimsuits, sunscreen, and plenty of energy!
