To kick off our first Move It Monday of the new school year, we combined movement and spelling practice. We worked on our spelling words through a variety of exercises. Students practiced their words while doing jumping jacks, push-ups, high knees, planks, stretching, etc. 💪📝

We had a blast moving our bodies while putting our brains to work! 💪🧠

Way to move, learn, and start our week off strong, 5th graders! ⭐️

Yesterday we enjoyed Free Time Fri-YAY as a special way to celebrate students’ hard work, effort, and success throughout the school year! 🎉

Our 5th graders have shown responsibility, perseverance, and growth in so many ways, and they definitely earned a little time to relax, have fun, and enjoy being together. I am so proud of all they have accomplished this year! 🧡📚

This morning 5th graders in our class experimented to see whether glow sticks would glow brighter after sitting in hot water or cold water. The students unanimously agreed, that the glow sticks submerged in hot water glowed brighter than those in the cold water. We learned that chemical reactions happen faster with heat than cold. So ultimately, the glow sticks in hot water glow brighter, while the ones in cold water glow longer.

For some added fun we enjoyed silent reading by glow stick light.

In an effort to “end the year with a bang” we’ve been enjoying some extra fun activities in our classroom this week. Students wrote their Summer Bucket Lists, performed “Next Year Nerves” and “Summertime Blues” Readers’ Theater, and tested just how well they know Mrs. Robinson. We still have some exciting challenges and academic fun ahead next week. 🧡

Today for Move-It Monday, we played a lively game of “Agree or Disagree!” Students listened to different statements and showed their opinions with some energetic movement. If they agreed, they raced down the front staircase, around the corner, and up the side staircase. If they disagreed, they sprinted to the tree and back! 🌳🏃‍♀️

It was a fun and active way to get moving while sharing thoughts on topics like homework, summer break, school start times, and even favorite grade levels. A great mix of exercise, laughter, and student voice!🧡💪

Yesterday our 5th graders dove into a hands-on Mystery Science experiment to investigate chemical reactions.🧪✨

Students explored how different materials can change when mixed together, and the room quickly filled with excitement, curiosity, and a little bit of mess (the best kind!).

One student had a great idea to add color to the goo, which sparked even more excitement and creativity. Soon, everyone was designing their own unique versions—bright, swirly, and totally one-of-a-kind!

It was a fantastic day of experimenting, problem-solving, and thinking like real scientists. Way to go, 5th graders! 💡👏
