Any chorus student interested in trying out for IMLEA, the deadline for applications is tomorrow Tuesday August 25th! Please submit your application to Ms. Wiyrick.
Currently, there is only one high school student signed up. There are 11-14 6th-8th graders signed up. A few kids forgot their forms today, so please make sure your student brings their form to school tomorrow! This is an excellent opportunity to try something new and develop self-confidence 🙂
*Auditions are done online in the music room with no coaching from me. I will work with students before or after school to work on the music and skills needed for the auditions, but I can not help at all during the audition.
There are two times that the students may or may not perform depending on how well they score. The first event is on Saturday, November 7th. This is the District Festival. The rehearsal and performance venue will be at Augustana College in Rock Island. I will attend with the students who are selected.
The second event if the student scores high enough may be selected to perform at the next highest level called All
State. This is where the best of the best across the state of Illinois meet and sing as a choir. This event will take place at the Peoria Civic Center at the very end of January. Therefore, your student may miss a day or two of school. However, the students have been told that this isn’t an excuse to miss school. This is a high level working opportunity for choir students.
