Hello junior color guard families and those interested!

Our junior fall color guard season starts next Tuesday. The junior fall color guard program is a 3-week commitment that introduces 5th graders and middle school students to color guard and helps them learn what our program is all about. This group is FREE of charge, and no experience is necessary.

Color guard is a performance-based activity that combines dance and choreography with equipment such as flags, rifles, and sabres to interpret music visually. Kettering's junior fall color guard practices twice a week for 3 weeks in August and September, and performs with the Kettering Fairmont Marching Firebirds at 1 football game on Friday, September 11th.

WHO? Open to ALL 2026-2027 Kettering students in grades 5-8

WHEN: Practices: 6-8 pm in KFHS BAND ROOM (enter door 2 at Fairmont High School) Make sure to wear athletic clothes and bring water.

Wednesday, August 26th
Tuesday, September 1st
Wednesday, September 2nd
Tuesday, September 8th
If you are not able to attend all of the above practices but still want to join, please reach out to me individually!

Mandatory Rehearsal with KF Marching Firebirds-
Thursday, September 10th- Roush Stadium (7:30-9 pm)
If unable to attend the Thursday night rehearsal, you will not be able to perform at the football game.

Mandatory 8th Grade Night Football Game Performance-
Friday, September 11th- (report to KFHS at DOOR 2 at 5:30 pm). Performance at halftime and dismissed after. Each junior guard student needs to be picked up following the halftime performance.

For the performance, students will wear tennis shoes, black pants/leggings, and a provided Kettering Music T-shirt. Girls with long hair will need to put it up in a high ponytail.

This Saturday, our Marching Firebirds will be in neighborhoods for our annual "Donation Day" Fundraiser. The generosity and support of the Kettering Community has been a long-time benefit to supporting the fine young adults who make up our band program.
Kids have many options on how they spend their time outside of school in 2026, and these talented individuals choose to spend countless hours bettering themselves as musicians and people, all while supporting their school and community.
