After much investigating and calling different departments, I just received word from a Head licensor and was told we ARE able to hire 16 & 17 year olds!! 🎉 They MUST be able to pass a background check, obtain a work permit and they may ONLY work under the supervision of an experienced caregiver!! 😀

This is GREAT NEWS for everyone!!! 😆

PSA!!!We had interviews today with people that said they wanted to work and they were a no call/show which puts so many kids out of daycare and parents stranded searching for other options when there is literally close to no other options In this town. WE are doing our best and struggling with the staff that we have but it’s not easy & exhausting for them. JOB DESCRIPTION – COOK

Reports to: Administrator of Alphabet Kids

Job Summary:
The Child Care Center Cook is responsible for menu planning, purchasing of groceries and daily preparation of nutritious meals and snacks served to the children (ages 6 weeks to 12 years enrolled in the center. The kitchen is to be managed and the work of the Cook is to be conducted in strict compliance with CACFP and all other applicable agencies. The Cook works in consultation with the Center Administrator to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen and its coordination with the other programs of the center.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Kitchen
• Advance planning of lunch menus and snacks in accordance with the CACFP; posting of menus for parents and staff
• Conduct housekeeping tasks necessary to maintain the kitchen in an organized, clean, safe and hygienic condition at all times
• Deliver and collect lunch/snack trays to/from all rooms.
• Complete clean up after each meal (i.e. dishes, countertops, etc.)
• Regular inventory of kitchen equipment and supplies

Program Support
• Establish and maintain open communication with parents regarding children’s dietary restrictions, allergies, etc.
• Assist in administration of first aid, as required
• Participate in fire drills and other emergency procedures as necessary
• Assist in the child care programs as required by the Administrator in order to enhance or maintain child-staff ratios.

Other
• Attend staff/program meetings as required
• Attend professional development and other relevant training opportunities when available in order to remain current with respect to DEC’s regulations on proper food handling, etc.
• Other duties; participation in training in CACFP with Center Administrator.
• Assists the Administrator in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by promptly reporting any existing and/or potential workplace hazards

Must be able to pass a background check, have 3 Verifiable references and be able to obtain a First Aid/CPR card.

We offer paid training and a fast, fun, rewarding work environment. Pay is DOE. This is a Full time/Permanent position year round.
