Congrats to coach Felipe Leon his coaching staff and the JV Squad for a well rounded successful season.
With an impressive 18-1-4 overall record and a 7-0 league record. The future looks bright for the Kerman High Boys Soccer program.
Words from Coach Felipe:
My first year as the JV soccer coach for Kerman High School was an incredible experience that I will always cherish. I was fortunate to work with a great group of players who were not only talented but also extremely coachable, which made my job much easier.
We kicked off the season with our first tournament at Clovis, and to our delight, we went undefeated all the way to the final. We faced tough teams like Justin Garza and El Diamonte, and although we lost the final against the host on penalties, it only served to make us stronger.
This setback fueled our determination, and in our second tournament, we once again emerged victorious, defeating teams like Sanger, Torres, and Buchanan in the final. And finishing undefeated with only one goal conceded.
Following another unfortunate loss (this being the first official loss in regular period), we bounced back even stronger. In our next eight games, seven of which were league matches, we scored an impressive 45 goals and only conceded one. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen weather conditions and circumstances beyond our control, we were unable to play our final three league games. Nonetheless, our performance throughout the season was outstanding.
When I took on the role of head coach, I made a promise to the team. I told them that I wouldn't make them better than any other school out there, but I would strive to make them better than themselves. I believed that by developing a group of talented individuals who played together as a team, we would become a formidable force. And that's exactly what we proved on the pitch.
Our journey was filled with challenges, heartbreaking losses, triumphant moments, and hard work. Yet, through it all, we maintained a positive attitude and supported one another. Whether on the field or on the bench, there was always a sense of good vibes and encouragement. I tried to always instill a culture of hard work, good ethics, and integrity, which fostered a positive environment for everyone involved.
This experience made me realize that I had found a true passion. It wasn't just about coaching soccer; it was about making a difference in the lives of these young kids. I decided to embark on a journey to become a counselor because I wanted to continue impacting them not only as athletes but also as individuals and responsible members of our community.
While I am proud of the important games we won and the trophies we earned, what matters most to me is the impact I am making on these young athletes. The praise and compliments I have received are nice, but they pale in comparison to the satisfaction I feel when I see these players grow and thrive, both on and off the field.
My first year as the JV soccer coach for Kerman High School has been a truly remarkable experience. It has taught me the power of passion, hard work, and teamwork. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of these young athletes' lives, and I will continue to strive to make a positive impact in everything I do
