This moderately strenuous 7-mile lollipop loop has views, water features, leaf-peeping, and so much more - it checks all the boxes! So get the trail mix ready and throw on your pack as you embark on this sure-to-please adventure.

Greetings mine fair vagabonds! We are BACK with a new terrific trek along the Indian Hill Loop in Sterling Forest State Park, NY. This 4+ mile loop hike offers strenuosity, view-i-tude, and natureness for those seeking a sliver solace in an increasingly crowded NY/NJ hiking scene.

Thanks to the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference’s list of lesser-traveled trails (which can be found at nynjtc.org/news/how-hike-trail-less-traveled), we discovered this lurvely loop that allowed us to , avoiding overused and overcrowded areas, PLUS provided puh-lenty of distance between us and fellow hikers’ breath-droplets…hashtag win.

So strap on your boots onto your foots and prepare for a scenic sun-dappled hike loop!

Climb historic Sterling Fire Tower while enjoying ample birding along the way on this 4-mile loop hike in Sterling Forest State Park, NY! A spectacular, I repeat, spec-TAC-ular hike for bird-nerds thanks to its locality along the Atlantic Flyway, this moderate trek takes you past iron ore mining remains, saunters by Sterling Lake, climbs over undulating ridge lines, and leads you up 60’ Sterling Fire Tower with its 360 degree views. Hike it while it’s hot!

Difficulty: Moderate

The quintessential shot of Awosting (or “OW, a sting!” as I like to say 😆) falls in Minnewaska State Park Preserve. The fall foliage is pretty flippin’ awesome right now in the Hudson Valley, by the way...I’d highly recommend visiting before the leaves disappear! 🍁 🍂
