Three days, countless learning opportunities, and a lot of meat judging! Gussy, Kaylee, and Mikah had a great time at the inaugural Meat Judging Camp at Oklahoma State University, building skills and preparing for the Meat Judging CDE. We’re excited to see what this young team accomplishes in the coming years!

State FFA Convention Final Day:

The Making Things Better Challenge is a community service program by Oklahoma FFA encouraging students to perform at least 5 community service activities over the course of the school year. Members being recognized for this honor are Jerzi Nolen, Jenley Jones, Rae Oldham, Izzy Gilstrap, Tana Thornburg, and Jalie Robinson.

Keota FFA was also chosen for a $2000 grant from the Wes and Lou Watkins Making Things Better Program. This grant will fund raised garden beds in the school greenhouse to grow vegetables for the community.

Keota FFA was chosen as 1 of 50 chapters to represent our chapter history in the 100th year celebration Hall of Chapters. There are nearly 400 chapters in Oklahoma and we were honored to be chosen. Our booth was on display in the event expo for the entirety of convention.

Members were able to continue networking with industry leaders and numerous colleges at the expo.

The end cap of the night was recognition of the prestigious State FFA Degree which is the highest honor a state can bestow upon a member. Jaybree Foster, Gunnar Klatt, and Kannon Mooneyham were among the over 800 candidates recognized this year.

Jaybree was also one of just 81 candidates recognized for their hard work and dedication to their academics. She received the Academic Excellence Award which is a point system based on ACT scores, GPA, and class rank. The average ACT score of these members was 27, the average GPA was a 3.99 on a 4.0 scale, and 66 of the 81 were valedictorian of their class.

Congratulations again to all of our members on a fantastic year of growth!

Keota FFA was also recognized by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture for donating to the Oklahoma FFA Hunger Challenge. These donations go towards packing backpacks for hungry children.

Members were able to network with colleges and top industry leaders at the Career expo in the Arvest Convention Center.

We enjoyed a steak dinner and ended the evening with a live concert from The Great Divide featuring Logan Ryan.

State FFA Convention Week Day 1:

Members spent a few hours volunteering at the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. We packed over 55,000 pounds of food!

Then we headed to work on our golf swings at Suite Shots.

The kids rounded out the evening with sweet treats and a visit to the hotel pool.

Stay tuned to see where the week takes us.
