Brother D, thank you for the nectar of your music, your smiling eyes and radiant heart, for the boundless joy and love you embodied in your life, and for the grace and wisdom you showed us all in this last soul swan dive into the Infinite.

RIP David The Legend Lives On

The spiritual teacher Ram Dass once said that the bhakti path (the way of love), isn’t about who you love, it’s about who you don’t love.

I have always taken this principal to heart, and focused on transforming those relationships in my life, that for whatever reason, seem to lack love.

One of these relationships was with my brother, Jonathan. As we matured into adulthood, we didn’t have a contentious relationship, but our connection was lukewarm. There was very little emotional closeness between us, and our bond as brothers just didn’t feel strong.

I had wondered why, with all the non-blood related “brothers” I had in my life, this man had incarnated as my only sibling. It had aways remained a mystery to me.

I decided to take this inquiry to “the altar”. I worked on releasing whatever blocks I was holding onto around him, and prayed to find healing. In my meditations, I surrounded him in light, and practiced keeping my heart open around our relationship.

Some time later, I received a call from him. He said it was urgent and to call him back as soon as possible. I immediately got concerned that something had happened with our mother. So, I called him back as soon as I could.

We got on the phone, and I asked him what was up. There was a pause on the line, and then he said to me: “I called to apologize for our entire childhood. I was a tough older brother, and I could have definitely been more gentle and kind.” My heart immediately welled up and tears flowed down my cheeks. In that moment, I felt that my prayers had been answered. We chatted for a bit, and connected during that conversation in a way that we never had. I hung up the phone and felt so much love… for him.

Ever since that moment, we have been extremely close. Meeting for meals, spending time at each others homes, and just enjoying life together. He has also been a loving and consistent uncle for my daughter, Tulsi. A few years back, he lost a son, and it was my honor to be there for him, in the deepest way I know how. Nowadays, a week does not go by that we don’t speak at least a few times.

This is an example of what happens when you keep your heart open, and insist on keeping the flow of love alive between you and another, even when you feel tremendous resistance. If there is one thing that I have learned on this journey, it is that love heals all wounds, and I mean… ALL!

Jonathan is a wine conniesieur, and owns a company called Newman Wine and Spirits. I tell him that we are both in the intoxication business! 🤣🍷🕉 Sending Love, David ❤️

Grace Has Its Way… 🙏🏽💗

One evening after an event in NYC, we arrived at our friends home in Soho where we were staying that night.

Mira, my wife at the time, had expressed a desire to have a child. My response was that I would meditate on it, as this was not a decision I took lightly. For most of my life, becoming a parent, was not something I was particularly drawn to. So, I really needed to check in deeply, and as always, look for the signs.

Mira and I were standing in our friends kitchen that night, and I turned my head to their bookshelf. One book stood out to me, and it said: “CHILDREN NOW.”

Of course, I took notice of that, and our conversation continued. Then a few minutes later our friend brought out a small bag with a ribbon, and handed it to Mira and me. She said she was guided to get it for us.

We opened the bag and there was a book inside. The title? “The Children of Now.” It was the same book I glanced at on the shelf, except I could not see the word “OF”. Apparently, it was a book that described the kinds of souls that were now coming into the world.

Well, that was one powerful sign and there were many, like someone at a kirtan yelling out: “When are you two having kids?” It soon became obvious that we were being called to bring a soul into the world. The signs were not subtle!

It has become increasingly clear to me on my path, that if Spirit wants something to manifest, it will, no matter how much we resist. Conversely, when Spirit does not want something to manifest, no matter how strongly we exert our will, it will not.

Being a father has been the great surprise joy of my life, and walking the path with my daughter has truly been a high point in my incarnation. I simply could not in my wildest dreams imagine life without Tulsi by my side.

I am so profoundly grateful that Grace had its way with me. May it always be so. 💜🌸🦋

Yôga will wash you down of all concepts, even the beautiful ideas you try to hold & seek with.

Thought that is not purposed for relationship is already Artificial Intelligence.

The intelligence expressed in human thought is no match for the pure brilliance and intelligence that is the body. That is life as it actually is.

You are that brilliance. Your obsession with the artificial intelligence that is thought (knowledge expressed as science, religion or politics) is killing your life, & all species.

Leave the body alone, give it a chance, and you will find the pure intelligence and beauty that is life is doing the most amazing job of looking after you. The body IS the cosmos. The body is in a unitary movement with the Total cosmos. Every second, billions of brilliant transactions are going on in the body in this beautiful cosmos.

So you certainly don’t need the methods of Yôga and religion that presume you’re not there yet. That is more dead knowledge, the stranglehold of thought. With all the saints & saviors, and with all the scientific “advancement” we are still killing ourselves and all the species. We are still ignoring the extraordinary energy, pure intelligence, the unspeakable beauty & harmony.

The method of science & religion presumes separation from what they are trying to understand. It will never work. Yôga is the third leg of the stool. The triad of Yôga, religion & science makes knowledge useful.

Yoga is the search-less participation in the Given Reality, life as it actually is. It is not a seeking for some future state in the dichotomies of knowledge, the imagined separation. There must be Yôga unshackled from the burden of artificial intelligence.

Thought has its own agenda & momentum that is killing you. It has taken over the body. You are ruled by “the head of state”. It is a neurological fault that has been put in these innocent births. And now there is AI rushing forward with commercial non democratic madness, in the hands of a few megalomaniac billionaires.

Most of us are waged workers unwittingly supporting this insanity. So be it. But still it is the time to recognize you are the power, intelligence & beauty of the cosmos
