Nashville mom Brittany Starks started offering free back-to-school braids for children of single parents who needed support.

After someone once showed up for her family during a difficult season, Starks decided to pass that same care on to others.

I’m scratching my head on this one… 🤔 As an educator, I know how valuable support staff are to the day to day operations of a school. I also know how “chaotic” the lunchroom can be. Bless her & everyone who works hard to make a difference every day. Lessons are being taught by each individual impacting students. When people tell you “things aren’t that bad …. At least it’s not the way it was in the 1960’s”, show them this 🤦🏽‍♀️

Hundreds of Grand Rapids students will soon qualify for up to $14,000 per academic year towards the cost of their bachelor’s degrees through an expansion of the Grand Rapids Promise Zone Scholarship.

The scholarship currently provides eligible students within the city limits with a tuition-free associate’s degree at GRCC. Soon, it will also cover a large portion of the cost of tuition and fees for students who earn their GRCC degree and wish to continue their education at either Ferris State or Grand Valley State University.
