Team Comet Robotics Club We teach 4th thru 12th Graders how to Design, Build, Program,
and Compete with the Vex IQ and Vex Robotics Platforms.

Mission Statement:
The mission of the Team Comet Robotics Club is to empower all youth of the Marion area starting with the 4th thru 12th Grade to meet the challenges of today by inspiring them to become the leaders of tomorrow. Team Comet is dedicated to work in a partnership with students, families, and the community to prepare students to be life- long learners through the commitment of the Tea

m to grow collaboratively as a professional learning community. Team Comet will foster a safe environment where all students will embrace Science, Technology, Engineering and Math to plant the seeds of personal growth, exhibit respect for self and others, collaborate as a team, and learn to be efficient problem solvers. Each of these core beliefs are staples of a successful leader. Team History:
The Team Comet Robotics Club was started in the summer of 2012 after a Vex Robotics Camp at the Marion Technical College. The local schools of the area had not been able to get a full time program started due to the current economic climate and budget cuts. Steve and Pam Sayre parents and Elgin alumni saw a need to give the middle school students at Elgin Junior High School the opportunity to learn the life skills needed to compete in the world today. Through a personal donation of a robotics start kit and the procurement of a Grant from the Marion Technical College and Vex Robotics LLC, Team Comet was formed. Since that time TCRC has incorporated the 4th– 12th Grades into its curriculum. Team Goals:
Our goal is to prepare all of the Team members to contribute, advance and succeed in the 21st Century workforce, to be responsible hard working family and community members, and to embrace learning as a life-long process. We will strive not only to compete with the best in the World but be the best in the World. Through hard work and a tireless dedication to excellence the sky is our only limit. Team Accomplishments:
TCRC is one of the premiere Robotics Clubs in Marion County. We have placed Teams in the Vex World Championships, 7 State of Ohio Qualifiers, Multiple Tournament Championships, Excellence Awards, Design Awards and $2,000 in scholarships from OSU Marion. Joining TCRC:
TCRC is a non school funded program that works out of the Old Elgin High School. We practice after school grades 4 thru 5 from 3:30pm until 5pm and grades 6 thru 12 from 5pm until 8pm. Elementary students meet at the office and are walked over to the Robotics Room. Students are asked to bring in a note letting the school know that they are going to robotics practice. Robotics is a fun way for your child to hone problem solving skills and use the things they learn in the class room in a practical environment that prepares them for later career choices. Any parents that have a student interested in joining TCRC needs to call Steve or Pam Sayre, Team Advisors at (740)751-9708 or (740)751-7807 or Email us at
[email protected] . We are looking forward to hearing from you soon.
