Ohio State Extension-Hardin County Master Gardener Volunteer Program The Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteer (MGV) Program is an educational program designed to meet consumer horticulture needs.

The Ohio State University Extension (OSUE) Master Gardener Volunteer (MGV) Program is an educational program designed to meet the consumer horticulture needs of Ohio citizens. Its purpose is to train volunteers and utilize their expertise to teach people more about plants and pests, their culture, and their importance to the environment and to our quality of life. MGVs provide technical assistance to their county Extension office in order that consumer horticulture activities and programs can be more effectively and efficiently delivered to Ohio's gardening public. Current MGV Initiatives include: Integrated Pest Management, Backyard and Local Foods, Environmental Horticulture, and Invasive Species.

Reminder! Join us for our annual Fall Children’s Program at the beautiful Hardin County Friendship Gardens! This year, we’re discovering the amazing world of native insects and the plants they call home. Children will explore eight fun, hands-on activity stations that offer exciting opportunities to learn, discover, and enjoy the outdoors!

Forestry Field Day is this Sunday, October 18th from 1:00 pm to 4:00pm at Rushcreek Sportsman Club, 17950 County Road 85, Belle Center, OH 43310.
Come on out and enjoy the activities! There will be kids activities, scavenger hunt, horse drawn wagon rides through the woods, and good food. Our forester, Steve McGinnis will be there in the woods to talk about the woods and answer any questions you may have. This is always a great family - fun filled event!

A Very Big Thank You to all who sat at the Master Gardener booth at the Hardin County Fair this year!! I know I didn't get pictures of everyone but Thanks to all who were there! The mum and sunflower giveaway was a big hit and we answered many questions about all kinds of plants and other topics!
