Ohio State Extension-Hardin County Master Gardener Volunteer Program The Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteer (MGV) Program is an educational program designed to meet consumer horticulture needs.

The Ohio State University Extension (OSUE) Master Gardener Volunteer (MGV) Program is an educational program designed to meet the consumer horticulture needs of Ohio citizens. Its purpose is to train volunteers and utilize their expertise to teach people more about plants and pests, their culture, and their importance to the environment and to our quality of life. MGVs provide technical assistance

to their county Extension office in order that consumer horticulture activities and programs can be more effectively and efficiently delivered to Ohio's gardening public. Current MGV Initiatives include: Integrated Pest Management, Backyard and Local Foods, Environmental Horticulture, and Invasive Species.

Join us at the Friendship Gardens, located at 960 W. Kohler St. in Kenton, for a discussion on companion planting in your garden lead by one of our very own Master Gardener Volunteers.

"Companion planting is a great way to use space efficiently in the garden, plant your vegetables and flowers in mutually beneficial arrangements, and even protect your most prized plants from insects." (University of Minnesota Extenstion)

The summer program series is a 3-part series that takes place each June, July and, and August. Stay tuned for the 2027 series announcement in the spring.

The Friendship Garden is located at 960 W. Kohler Street in Kenton, Ohio. The garden is maintained by the Hardin County Master Gardener Volunteers. There are several different types of garden areas there at the Friendship Gardens.

Ohio State University Extension - Hardin County and Hardin SWCD are hostin a pond clinic on Tuesday, July 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Kenton High School, 751 Wildcat Way in Kenton.

Pond experts from Remlinger Fish Farm will be on hand to discuss w**d and algae control, fish stocking, and aerator set up as well as to answer any of your questions.

Grilled food and refreshments will be provided and Chuck Moore, KHS Conservation teacher, will give a tour of the conservation class at the newly built Kenton High School.
