SUMM started with community outreach, and while we're thrilled to now have our own museum space, our mission to reach students everywhere continues! Every week, our team is out in full force visiting local schools, libraries, and community centers.

Whether you want us to come to you or bring your group to us, we've got options:

In-Museum: Private events, field trips, and hands-on classes during or outside our regular open hours.

In the Community: Interactive outreach programs brought directly to your school or venue.

Reach out to our team today! We’d be happy to help find the right fit for your group to get math off the page and spark the love of math for all.

Last week's Math Out Loud left us inspired. ✈️✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening with the amazing Dr. Cecilia Aragon. Her story was a powerful reminder that a single step outside your comfort zone can change the course of your life.

From mastering math with the encouragement of her father to becoming an award-winning aerobatic pilot, Cecilia showed how the confidence we build in one area of our lives can give us the courage to take on entirely new challenges.

Thank you, Cecilia, for sharing your remarkable journey and reminding us that mathematics isn't just about formulas. It can be a pathway to confidence, resilience, and new possibilities.

If you missed this one, we'd love to see you at our next Math Out Loud, Learning, Creating, Bonding, and Healing with Topological Crochet with Shiying D**g.

Worried about summer slide? Keep your brain in gear.

The best kind of practice doesn't feel like practice. From the number strategy of Prime Climb to the pattern-spotting of SET and Qwirkle to the fast-reflex matching of Spot It! and the spatial puzzling of Kanoodle and Rush Hour every game on this shelf is building the same skills kids lose over summer break: counting, logic, memory, and problem-solving.

Research backs this up too: a peer-reviewed review of studies on kids ages 3–9 found number-based board games measurably improve counting, addition, and number sense.

SUMM's MathHappens room always has fabulous problem-solving experiences waiting, and our current rotating exhibit, Moves that Matter, is all about games and strategy!

Stop by during our open hours every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to explore! Looking for a custom experience? You can also schedule private events outside of our regular open hours.
