Congratulations, Coach Hock! 🙌❤️

CONGRATULATIONS, KEVIN HOCKETT! 🎉

After 44 years of service to Kent City Schools and the Kent community, we celebrate the retirement of Kevin Hockett.

Kevin’s journey with Kent City Schools began in 1982 as a supplemental assistant coach, a role he held for nine years before becoming a full-time district employee in 1991. Over the next 35 years, he dedicated himself to supporting students, staff, and families, becoming one of the most recognizable and respected figures in our district.

Beyond his work in our schools, Kevin also spent 25 years serving the community through Kent Parks & Recreation as the evening supervisor at the Kent Recreation Center, impacting countless residents both inside and outside the classroom.

While many know him as Kevin Hockett, generations of students simply know him as “Coach Hock.” Anyone who knows Coach Hock knows he genuinely cares about kids. He has never been afraid to have the difficult conversations, tell students what they need to hear rather than what they want to hear, and challenge them to become better versions of themselves. His honesty, accountability, and willingness to invest in young people have left a lasting impression on generations of Rough Riders.

One of Coach Hock’s favorite sayings has always been, “Tough times don’t last, tough people do,” and few people have embodied those words more completely.

Thank you, Kevin, for 44 years of service, leadership, mentorship, and dedication to the Kent community. Your impact will be felt for generations to come. We wish you all the best in a well-deserved retirement. ❤️🖤
