Daniel Alenquer, Director of the School of Visual Communication Design, recently spoke Jeanne Destro at WAKR Radio to talk about our newest major, the user experience design bachelor's degree. Here's their conversation:
Tomorrow's Tech Dreams Start Here
From the touch screen on your phone, to the "Popcorn" setting on your microwave; there's somebody, somewhere, who had to figure out how to make that work for you, and hopefully; how to make it work in such a way that the experience was seamless, satisfying, and really served your needs.....

On the night of May 24, 1978, Kent State student Judy Martins left a costume party in Dunbar Hall at 2:30 a.m. to return to her dorm, Engleman Hall. She was never heard from again.
The story of this cold case fascinated three current students in their Documentary and Journalism class in Spring of 2025. Journalism majors Adriana Gasiewski and Kayla Gleason and Digital Media Production major, Alex Tosko, reached out to reporter Dave O'Brien, who had been covering the case. After a pre-interview conversation with O'Brien, they pitched Judy's story to their professors who greenlit their documentary.
"What Happened to Judy Martins?" follows O'Brien and Judy's siblings, Steve Martins and Nancy Baer as they continue to investigate the disappearance.
Now the students' documentary will air Friday, August 22 at 9:00 p.m. on PBS Western Reserve's Local Focus program along with short interviews with the student documentarians.
