What a great story and a fantastic read!
Today, Mrs. Bates's public health class virtually welcomed Dr. Thomas Brewer, associate professor of health policy and management at Kent State University College of Public Health, to Hoban. In a Zoom meeting, Dr. Brewer provided an overview of the World Health Organization and its role in supporting global public health, using as an example the recently launched Global Diabetes Compact. He also shared his experiences leading the Global Health Immersion course, which allows students to participate in the annual World Health Assembly held in Geneva, Switzerland. Dr. Brewer fielded questions and discussed unique career paths into the field of public health including his own, which began as a criminologist.
Hoban launched the public health course this academic year under Mrs. Bates's leadership.
