Mental health awareness starts with conversation, education, and connection.

Last week at the Association of Ohio Health Commissioners (AOHC) Conference, Diana Patel, Ph.D., Project Coordinator, and Kayla Varney, MPH, Research Assistant, with Kent State Center for Public Policy and Health, led an engaging session on the value of implementing mental health awareness trainings, such as CPPHS’s A.I.D. training, within local health departments.

The session sparked thoughtful discussion about how health departments can use mental health awareness education to reduce stigma, strengthen community connections, and help people recognize when someone may need support.

Congratulations Diana and Kayla, and thank you to everyone who joined the conversation and shared their insights!
