A colorful Kent State tradition became a celebration of global education!
Before returning to their home countries, the 23 scholars participating in the 2026 Fulbright Pre-Academic Program gathered to paint The Rock. Alongside the Fulbright logo, each scholar painted their nation's flag, representing countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
Hosted by the The Gerald H. Read Center for International and Intercultural Education in partnership with the English as a Second Language Center, the four-week program provides students with academic preparation and opportunities to build multicultural connections.
Thank you to our Fulbright scholars for sharing your cultures, perspectives, and experiences with the Kent State community. 💙💛

Kent State alumna Justine Siegal is no stranger to breaking barriers.
She was the first woman to throw batting practice to a major league team. (Shoutout to the home team, Cleveland Guardians.) Then she became the first female coach in the MLB with the Athletics.
While she was still a student at Kent State, she founded the nonprofit Baseball For All. Now in the ultimate full circle moment, she's co-founder of the Women's Pro Baseball League and will serve as the league's inaugural commissioner.

It wasn't your typical fieldwork.
Kent State anthropology students spent the day helping Walls Elementary recover a time capsule buried in 2000, giving local students a chance to see archaeology in action and revisit a piece of their school's history. 💙⚡️
