AMLCI Materials Day 2023 - Chirality and Optical Activity | Kent State University 03/08/2023

Materials Day 2023 is coming up!

It's almost that time of year. Our annual Materials Day event will kick off on Friday evening, April 28th, and end Saturday evening, April 29th, after a day of research and poster presentations. The theme for this year is 'Chirality and Optical activity'

The first evening will start with opening remarks by AMLCI Director Dr. Torsten Hegmann, followed by a keynote lecture by Dr. Noel A. Clark (University of Colorado @ Boulder), then a featured talk from Dr. Nicholas A. Kotov (University of Michigan). Following them will be the AMLCI fellowship award ceremony, where three outstanding graduate students will present their recent research, and receive fellowship awards for their outstanding work.

Summer Undergraduate Research Experience | Kent State University 06/14/2022

Summer Research Experiences at KSU

This year, the Office of Student Research will host 127 Kent State students in the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE). This is the largest number of students that the program has hosted since its inception in 2016, surpassing our previous high of 72 in 2020. This surge in participation underscores students’ desire to gain experience by working closely with a faculty member and the value of these experiences for students and their future careers.

We are indebted to our faculty mentors and to our supporters including Dr. William Doane, emeritus professor and director of LCI, Dr. Paul DiCorleto, retired vice president, Research and Sponsored Programs, and Dr. Beverly Warren, president emerita, all of whom have worked through the Kent State Foundation to create endowments to support the SURE program.
