Happy Summer Monday, Sunnycrest families!
We are reaching out early to help you plan for another school year and your first Monday Message! If you follow us on our social media accounts, you’ll see a copy of the Monday Message shared, as well as a regularly scheduled set of posts to help you get an idea of what is happening at Sunnycrest!
Mondays (with the exception of holidays) will be when we send our weekly principal message.
Tuesdays (about 2x per month) will be profiling teachers who work in our building, so you can get to know more about them!
Wednesdays are when we share what kids are working on in classrooms. Each time will feature different grades or classes.
Thursdays are often when we share throwback photos/stories, or offer up thanks to those who are supporting Sunnycrest.
Fridays are meant for families to share about themselves, when we highlight fun stories, or other fantastic celebrations happening!
Next week our offices officially open, on August 17, 2026. If you have not yet enrolled or verified your students for this school year, please do so as verification is required each year. Go to this link: https://www.fwps.org/enrollment and you’ll see the following page. Follow the prompts to complete this task! If you need help, you can reach out beginning August 17 for our office team to support you!

Back to School - Meet the Teacher night on Thursday, August 27 from 5:30 - 7:00 pm!
Please come by to meet teachers, tour the building, figure out bus routes/assignments (this year we have 7 buses!), get some school supplies, and enjoy a popsicle! We open doors at 5:30 pm but will post class lists at 5:00 pm so you can find your child’s teacher on physical rosters or in ParentVUE before going to see their space!
Notice that some teachers have changed grade levels and even have new positions! If you are new to our school, we have a dual language program that teaches in Spanish and English, as well as an English only side. Here is our staff roster for the 27-28 school year! Roles that have changed are listed in parenthesis. Reminder: we do NOT take requests for teachers or classroom placements. Class lists are balanced intentionally to ensure students have the best learning experience. As all staff teach the same curriculum, our work is to be continually in alignment so regardless of the teacher, students have the best possible learning opportunities.
KINDER CAMP & 1st 6 Days of School:
Reminder to families with Kindergarteners that the first 6 days of school are half days. Students will eat lunch at school and will be dismissed at 12:10 pm. Kindergarten teachers will be reaching out to families to set up Family Connection meetings starting the afternoon of the second day. The first two days will finalize class lists, so know that when your Kindergartener comes on Thursday night to meet teachers, they’ll either meet DL or SL teams, but won’t receive their teacher assignment until the end of 2nd day of school!
Arrival & Dismissal:
As a neighborhood school, it is important to be considerate of the families who live in the area. Please DO NOT BLOCK driveways or intersections, and follow the pattern so that our neighbors can get around easily even during our beginning/end of day times.
Our arrival time begins at 8:40 am, and kids can enter the building at 8:45 am. We will continue to have Breakfast in the Classroom so students in Kindergarten and 1st grade will enter through the Yellow Doors. Students in 2nd-5th grades will enter the gym. Students will line up with their classrooms and engage in morning connection activities led by staff until the bell rings. They’ll then proceed to classrooms where they’ll eat breakfast while interacting with social emotional learning lessons with their classroom teachers through breakfast.

Dismissal line up for cars begins at 3:00 pm, and kids begin dismissal at 3:35 pm. If you have the availability to come early for pick up, please fill out a background form and come volunteer with us inside to help with the end of the day procedures! Our kids and staff would LOVE that! Lastly, please be reminded of Washington state law that school zones are 20 mph, and parking within 30 feet of a stop or yield sign can result in a ticket. Thank you for your attention to these details!

¡Contactamos antes para ayudarte a planificar otro curso escolar y tu primer mensaje de lunes! Si nos sigues en nuestras redes sociales, verás una copia compartida del Monday Message, así como una serie regular de publicaciones para ayudarte a hacerte una idea de lo que ocurre en Sunnycrest.
Los lunes (excepto los festivos) serán cuando enviaremos nuestro mensaje semanal de director.
Los martes (unas 2 veces al mes) serán perfiles de profesores que trabajan en nuestro edificio, ¡para que puedas conocerlos mejor!
Los miércoles es cuando compartimos en qué trabajan los niños en las aulas. Cada vez habrá diferentes cursos o asignaturas.
Los jueves suelen ser cuando compartimos fotos o historias de regreso, o damos las gracias a quienes apoyan a Sunnycrest.
Los viernes están pensados para que las familias compartan sobre sí mismas, cuando destacamos historias divertidas o celebraciones fantásticas que ocurren.

Vuelta al cole - Noche de Conoce al Profesor el jueves 27 de agosto de 17:30 a 19:00.
Por favor, pasad a conocer a los profesores, recorrer el edificio, averiguar rutas y tareas de autobús (¡este año tenemos 7 autobuses!), comprar material escolar y disfrutar de un polo. Abrimos las puertas a las 17:30, pero publicaremos las listas de clases a las 17:00 para que puedas encontrar al profesor de tu hijo en los horarios físicos o en ParentVUE antes de ir a ver su espacio.
¡Fíjate que algunos profesores han cambiado de curso e incluso han puesto nuevos puestos! Si eres nuevo en nuestro colegio, tenemos un programa bilingüe que enseña en español e inglés, además de una sección solo en inglés. ¡Aquí tienes nuestra lista de profesores para el curso 27-28! Los roles que han cambiado se listan entre paréntesis. Recordatorio: NO aceptamos solicitudes de profesores ni de colocación en clase. Las listas de clases están equilibradas intencionadamente para asegurar que los estudiantes tengan la mejor experiencia de aprendizaje. Como todo el personal imparte el mismo currículo, nuestro trabajo es estar siempre alineados para que, independientemente del profesor, los estudiantes tengan las mejores oportunidades de aprendizaje posibles.
CAMPAMENTO DE INFANTIL Y 1º 6 Días de Clase:
Recordatorio a las familias con niños de infantil de que los primeros 6 días de clase son medio día. Los estudiantes comirán en el colegio y serán despedidos a las 12:10 pm. Los profesores de infantil se pondrán en contacto con las familias para concertar reuniones de Family Connection a partir de la tarde del segundo día. Los dos primeros días finalizarán las listas de clases, así que ten en cuenta que cuando tu niño de Infantil venga el jueves por la noche a conocer a los profesores, conocerá a los equipos DL o SL, pero no recibirá su asignación de profesor hasta el final del segundo día de clase.
Llegada y despido:
Como colegio de barrio, es importante ser considerado con las familias que viven en la zona. Por favor, NO bloqueéis entradas de acceso ni intersecciones, y seguid el patrón para que nuestros vecinos puedan moverse fácilmente incluso al principio y al final del día.
Nuestra llegada comienza a las 8:40 de la mañana, y los niños pueden entrar al edificio a las 8:45. Seguiremos teniendo desayuno en el aula para que los alumnos de Infantil y 1º de primaria entren por las Puertas Amarillas. Los alumnos de 2º a 5º curso accederán al gimnasio. Los estudiantes se alinearán con sus aulas y participarán en actividades de conexión matutinas dirigidas por el personal hasta que suene la campana. Luego pasarán a las aulas donde desayunarán mientras interactuan con las lecciones de aprendizaje socioemocional con sus profesores durante el desayuno.

La cola de salida para coches comienza a las 15:00 y los niños comienzan a las 15:35. Si tienes disponibilidad para llegar temprano a recogerla, por favor rellena un formulario de antecedentes y ven a colaborar con nosotros dentro para ayudarte con los procedimientos de fin de día. ¡A nuestros niños y al personal les ENCANTARÍA eso! Por último, recuerda la ley del estado de Washington que establece que las zonas escolares son de 20 mph, y aparcar a menos de 30 pies de una señal de parada o de ceder el paso puede suponer una multa. ¡Gracias por prestar atención a estos detalles!
Esperamos veros el jueves 27 de agosto a las 17:30 para que conozcáis a vuestros profesores, practiqueis cómo orientaros en la escuela y aprendáis más sobre cómo tener un año maravillosamente exitoso. ¡Estoy deseando verte pronto y volver a verte con nosotros!
