The Kent State College of Aeronautics and Engineering is home to many classes and majors at Kent State University, including two categories of accredited mechatronics majors, Mechatronics Engineering Technology and Mechatronics Engineering. Both programs are ABET accredited, which is recognized as the highest standard of engineering education, and, according to ABET.org, receiving the accreditation adds assurance that the program is adhering to the quality of standards that will prepare graduates for the future. Karin Coifman, Ph.D., and John Gunstad, Ph.D., professors in the Department of Psychological Sciences have launched a research initiative that could improve the wellbeing of thousands of students. The new Student Life Study is the largest and most ambitious investigation into the health and wellbeing of college students ever conducted. It will collect a high-dimensional data set on a group of 10,000 students and follow them throughout their lifetimes, providing real-time data on student mental and physical health. Kent State University is proud to be the host site for the inaugural Innovation Day providing a forum for the Northeast Ohio Public Universities Research Alliance (NEO-PURA) institutions to accelerate collaborations between each other and with the regional innovation ecosystem.
The all-day event is free for all, and will be held at Kent State University in the Design Innovation Hub at the Kent campus on Friday, March 24th. Registration is required and can be done on the Official Innovation Day Page: https://www.kent.edu/research/InnovationDay2023

Kent State University alumnus Earl Miller, Ph.D., a leading cognitive neuroscientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and his wife, Marlene Wicherski, were recognized last week at the university’s 10th Annual Neuroscience Symposium, for their $2 million commitment to support research programs and students in the Brain Health Research Institute- Kent State University. Valoree Vargo, vice president for philanthropy and alumni engagement, presented the Founders Award to Miller and Wicherski at the symposium.

The Center for Health Design has awarded Sara Bayramzadeh, Ph.D., assistant and Elliot Professor in Health Care Design in the Kent State College of Architecture + Environmental Design - CAED the Touchstone Award-Gold Category for conceptual design for the project "Toward a Model of Safety and Care for Trauma Room Design," funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
