And that’s just part of the story.

AJAC’s 2025-2026 Annual Report looks at a year of growth, new training options for manufacturers, expanded pathways for high school students, and the apprentices and employer members at the center of it all.

From launching FAST Certificate Courses to introducing Open Manufacturing Courses, we’re continuing to find new ways to help Washington manufacturers build skilled teams.

What does a career in manufacturing actually look like?

For Manufacturing Day 2026, we took students inside CubCrafters and Pexco Aerospace, Inc. in Yakima to see it for themselves.

They got to see aircraft being built, talk with people working in the industry, and hear from an AJAC Youth Apprentice who is already building his own career in aerospace manufacturing.

The biggest takeaway? There are real opportunities right here in the Yakima Valley, and you do not always need a four-year degree to get started.

What happens after you complete Manufacturing Academy?

You get to work with our Career Navigation Team.

They help you sharpen your resume, improve your cover letter, practice your interview skills, and connect with local employers who are hiring and ready to bring new talent into apprenticeship.

That’s exactly what Casey and Brian did after completing Manufacturing Academy this past spring. Now, they’re both starting this fall quarter as machinist apprentices through Renton Coil Spring.

Congratulations to our summer Manufacturing Academy graduates!

Today, this group wrapped up 10 weeks of hands-on training through our partnership with South Seattle College, building the skills and knowledge they need to take their first steps into advanced manufacturing.

Over the past three months, they tackled manufacturing math, hand tools, shop safety, precision measurement, blueprint reading and GD&T, lean manufacturing, mills and lathes, and CNC programming.

That’s where AJAC FAST Certificate Courses come in.

FAST courses are focused, hands-on trainings built around skills employees can use right away, from GD&T and technical drawings to OSHA-10, forklift operations, CPR and First Aid.
