The Academy of the Holy Cross (AHC), cherishes tradition, celebrates the moment and is alive with vision for the future. Students are challenged to reach beyond their comfort zone both in the classroom and in their co-curricular activities. The educational program develops both the mind and heart of each student as she appreciates her personal gifts and recognizes her mission to make God's love pr

esent. The Academy of the Holy Cross is an International Baccalaureate World School offering the full IB Diploma Programme and IB certificate courses. Enhancing their classroom experiences, AHC offers WCAC championship-level athletic teams, an award-winning Performing Arts department and many other activities and clubs. Sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross since 1868, the Academy is located on 28 acres of beautiful campus. Students learn in classrooms, studios and labs equipped with the latest technological advances.

Tartans on the links! 🏌🏻‍♀️

We were thrilled to welcome two Holy Cross alumnae, Lenore Martinez ‘76 and her daughter, Joanna Martinez Smith ‘07, back to campus for a visit to our new St. Angela Athletic & Wellness Center!

Lenore spent 14 years as the AHC golf coach and launched our golf program. Johanna was a golf captain who holds a special place in Holy Cross history as the first AHC student to hit a golf ball in competition. Join these two ladies on the links at Manor Country Club as they compete at the Tartan Golf Classic in support of Holy Cross on Monday, September 21!

🎶 Faculty & Staff Friday: Ms. Virginia ‘Ginnie’ Lum ✨

We’re proud to see our very own Ms. Virginia Lum, Music Teacher, featured in the September/October issue of Bethesda Magazine as part of “The Second Act,” highlighting five local educators who found their way to the classroom after careers in other fields.

A lifelong musician and accomplished performer, Ms. Lum has graced stages from Carnegie Hall to the White House and spent decades practicing law before returning to her passion for music and teaching.

Today, she brings that extraordinary experience to Holy Cross, where she teaches guitar, audio music production and the Madrigal Singers, inspiring our students to listen, learn and discover the joy of music.

We’re so grateful to have Ms. Lum as part of the Holy Cross community! 💜

A new chapter is taking shape at Holy Cross. 💜

The St. Angela Athletic and Wellness Center officially opens Friday, September 18, but our community is already making the most of this incredible new space.

Designed with the whole student in mind, the 20,000-square-foot center features a state-of-the-art gymnasium and fitness center, new team facilities and locker rooms, an outdoor yoga terrace, and more. Every space was created to support our girls as they grow, compete and thrive.

As we get ready to celebrate the grand opening and blessing, the Catholic Standard takes us inside the St. Angela Athletic and Wellness Center and explores what this exciting addition means for the future of Holy Cross.
