Yesterday the students from Brookside School had the privilege of having members from the NBRecovers Youth Prevention group come present on the dangers of va**ng among other dangerous impairing substances. We are grateful to the students who both presented and took in the presentation. There is nothing more powerful than peer to peer education!

About Last Night….Brookside School student Estefani Basora had the opportunity to get up and speak in front of a room full of people at the Center for Children's Advocacy Spring For Kids event at Dunkin Park in Hartford. Estefani told her personal story of trials and tribulations that have led her to the door step of next week’s High School graduation where she will then go on to post secondary studies at Central Connecticut State University. Estefani’s journey may not have been a traditional one but it was a journey that has helped her grow into the young woman that she is today with aspirations for a bright future. Your Brookside School and Consolidated School District of New Britain family are beyond proud of you Estefani! 🎓

Brookside School was thrilled to celebrate Estefani Basara on her achievement of our school’s Superintendent Student of the Year Award. Estefani was also accepted into Central Connecticut State University where she will be studying criminology. The journey of this student has presented its share of challenges and her determination and personal growth has created a path for future success!

Several Brookside School students from Ms. Luddy’s art class had pieces entered in the New Britain Art Show and came away with some big awards! With one Brookside student Myah taking first place in the Hispanic American Cultural Council Award 🥇. Congratulations to all of our students for placing their talents on full display. Today some of our Brookside School students took the opportunity to perform one of the Four Cornerstones that our school focuses on which is “Doing For Others.” These students prepared to read to our gracious host and preschool program’s at the Roosevelt Early Learning Center “RELC” here at the Consolidated School District of New Britain. We thank our host and remain proud of our students for continuing to grow while being vulnerable enough to allow for that growth 🫶

Brookside School would like to take a moment to celebrate Yanelis Salgado for her outstanding achievement of making the Quarter 3 Honor Roll! This student is extremely conscientious and hard working! What’s most impressive has been her willingness to turn the page and grow as person both inside and outside of the classroom! 📚🎓🏆

Yesterday Brookside School celebrated our Support Staff and Teacher of the year representatives. Congratulations to Eboni Hibbert, Nate Green, Justin Sutch, & Sam Carlin (not pictured) as Brookside’s SSOY and Abby Perez as Brookside’s TOY. These individuals along with the entire faculty at Brookside School deserve much recognition for the dedication and their ability to go above and beyond day to day expectations to help our students grow while fostering meaningful relationships with each and every student.

Today Brookside School celebrated a very special student from our school community. This young man was one of our first students to enter our Re-engagement program. Today Brian has achieved his goal of completing his high school graduation requirements. Brian will be a January 2025 graduate and his Brookside Re-engagement team could not be prouder! In Brian’s words this is not the end just “just the closing of one chapter.” 📚🎓🎉
