Meet Rita Allen, an exceptional school counselor at Harborside Academy!

Rita goes above and beyond each day to support the students and staff at Harborside Academy with compassion, professionalism and unwavering dedication. As the only counselor serving a building of nearly 600 students, she handles countless responsibilities with grace while always making herself available to help whenever needed.

Her positive attitude and genuine care for students are evident in every interaction, creating a supportive environment where students feel seen, heard and valued. No matter how busy the day gets, Rita consistently supports students and staff, demonstrating an incredible work ethic and commitment to her school community.

Thank you, Rita, for the heart, dedication and care you bring to KUSD every day! 🌟

Our middle school students have been learning from amazing local experts as part of their “Water Wise” projects! 🌊💧

Students explored coastal erosion along Lake Michigan with the WATERshed program, shared stencil designs selected by local engineer Chelsea Snowden-Smith to present to the City of Kenosha, worked with Stephanie Funk from Funkin Farm on “Easement Raingardens,” and received support and feedback from Kristi Heuser and Root Pike WIN ahead of their final presentations later this month.

We are grateful for these community partnerships and the authentic learning experiences they provide for our students! 👏

Today, our 7th graders took part in a Fishbowl discussion as they reflected on last week’s Silver Linings Conversation Café 🩶

Students shared thoughtful takeaways, built on each other’s ideas, and made meaningful connections to the powerful comeback stories shared by our guests. It was great to see so many students actively listening, encouraging one another, and engaging in such respectful and insightful conversations!
