🎶 Leading up to a new school year at HMS, we’ll be reintroducing you to our amazing team!

Next up is Ms. Martha! Martha is a teacher of both piano and cello, and has private students of all ages, young children through adults.

She attended the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago and served as principal of Kenosha Symphony Orchestra, Parkside Community Orchestra, and has played both piano and cello with the Racine Symphony Orchestra. A member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, Music Teachers National Association, and the local divisions of these National Groups, she enjoys preparing her students for performances and contests. Her students have attained high honors at both the local and State levels. She and her students have had fun being in parades and performing in various community outreach settings. Martha has performed in numerous recitals and wedding/party events and has done much accompanying both soloists and as church choir accompanist. She also enjoys various venues and has played in Praise Bands, Cowboy Bands, Bluegrass, and Irish Bands as well as dabbling in a variety of other instruments including banjo, ukulele, and baritone.

Outside of HMS Martha is a mother of four and a grandmother of two. Martha enjoys sewing, tent camping, and bike riding.

🎶 Leading up to a new school year at HMS, we’ll be reintroducing you to our amazing team!

Next up is Ms. Megan! Megan studied music at Carthage College, earning a Music Core degree complemented by studies in dance, piano, composition, and music education, as well as a music study tour in Austria and Germany. She also attended the Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory.

Outside of HMS, Megan currently performs with the Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra and “Would You Kindly?” acoustic-electric rock band. She enjoys trying new recipes, making software projects and small pottery.

🎶 Leading up to a new school year at HMS, we’ll be reintroducing you to our amazing team!

Next up is Ms. Jennifer! Ms. Jennifer is an accredited Kindermusik educator who has been teaching at Harmony Music School since March 2018 and has served as HMS Manager of Studio Experiences since September 2022.

A Kenosha native, Jennifer holds a bachelor’s degree in child psychology with a minor in music and a master’s degree in elementary/early childhood education. A career educator, she has worked as a child care provider, preschool teacher, nanny, tutor, school-age program leader, and educational director.

Jennifer is also a lifelong performer, appearing in plays, musicals, and concerts throughout the region. She currently performs regularly with Bombshell Theatre Company in Brookfield. Her favorite role, though, is Auntie Jen! She loves adventures with her nieces, nephews, and goddaughter and also enjoys trivia and movies.

We have had some interest from adults in taking this class so we have changed the age to ages 7 to 100! And parents taking this class alongside their youth will receive a 50% tuition discount. It's going to be so much fun!

This is a page Ms. Emilie follows. This is such a good reminder, parents. Just about everyone in Kenosha is back to school now and our kids are back to getting up early and dealing with some demands and stresses of being in school all day again and it's important to remember this graphic. Beneath every behavior there is something else going on. That seemingly minor thing might just be the "straw that broke the camel's back" so to speak. This is a good reminder!

Sometimes the thing that tips a child over can seem so small.

Shoes on.
Turn the screen off.
Time to leave.
A sibling says the wrong thing.

And we can find ourselves thinking, “Why has THAT caused such a big reaction?”

But that moment may only be the final drop.
They may have already been carrying sensory overload, tiredness, anxiety, demands, frustration, hunger or a need for connection. By the time we see the behaviour, their capacity may already be stretched to its limit.

Instead of focusing only on the final trigger, get curious about what has been filling their cup.
Because when we understand what led to the behaviour, we have a much better chance of knowing what they need from us.

And sometimes, the most helpful response isn't another consequence or another demand. It's helping to reduce the load.

Next up is Ms. Katherine! Katherine brings 25 years of music experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Music and Elementary Education from Bradley University. A skilled multi-instrumentalist, Katherine began as a Kindermusik parent before becoming a licensed educator in 2016. She’s active in the local music community, performing with various bands and orchestras. Katherine loves sharing music with her students and their families.

Outside of Harmony Music School, Katherine is also a preschooler teacher at Caterpillar College. For fun she likes to read and listen to audiobooks especially historical fiction. She also enjoys yoga and gardening. She lives in Kenosha with her husband, Allen, and their two boys.

🎶 Leading up to a new school year at HMS, we’ll be reintroducing you to our amazing team!

First up are our Co-Owners and Directors, Ms. Emilie and Mr. Daniel! Ms. Emilie also serves as Lead Teacher at HMS.

Ms. Emilie and Mr. Daniel started Harmony Music School—formerly Kindermusik with Emilie—in October 2010. It all began with just a handful of children in two Kindermusik classes, while renting empty classroom space from local churches.

Sixteen years later, HMS has grown into a 5,000-square-foot studio in Kenosha, along with satellite locations in Wind Point and Paddock Lake. Each year, we have the privilege of making music with hundreds of students through Kindermusik classes, group piano classes, private lessons, camps, YMCA programs, and more.

What started as a little flicker many years ago has grown into a bright, burning flame—touching the lives of children and families, both little and big, and making our community a better place through Harmony Music School. ❤️🎵

Outside of HMS, Ms. Emilie enjoys reading, spending time at the beach, baking, playing the piano, listening to music, and spending time with her family—including her dog, Benny! Ms. Emilie also serves on the Kenosha Public Library Board, where she is currently Vice President.

Outside of HMS, Mr. Daniel enjoys reading, biking, playing in a bocce league, listening to podcasts while tackling projects at home or HMS, and spending time with his family. Mr. Daniel has also served his community as a Kenosha County Board Supervisor since 2018.

We’re excited for another year of making music, building relationships, and watching our HMS students grow! 🎶❤️
