Barnswallow, A Wild Bird Concern in Wauconda is looking for fall/winter volunteers and college interns!
Spend your free time this fall learning about wild bird rehabilitation with us. At Barnswallow, we accept injured and orphaned songbirds and raptors with the goal of release. Daily tasks include but are not limited to cleaning housing for the birds, washing dishes, cutting fruit, filling bird feeders, setting up enclosures, preparing food, handling education ambassadors and much more!! We ask that volunteers/interns commit to 1 weekday per week throughout the fall/winter months. College interns can sometimes earn credit for school & we are happy to help with that! The Root River Voyager Series – environmental education workshops for community members ages 9 and up – returns on Tuesday evenings from 5:30pm to 7:30pm starting July 2!
Topics will include the basics of canoeing and kayaking, water quality, turtles, and invasive species found the Root River. All workshops include a kayak/canoe trip! Pre-registration is required (email [email protected]) and space is limited. There is a one-time $10 registration fee per participant, and youth must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
